“Great hotel at great price!”

Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Jul 24, 2008

I just got back from staying at the Wyndham and it went above and beyod my expectations. If you want to stay at VA Beach but away from the craziness of teenagers on summer break, the Wyndham is right for you. It is north of the boardwalk, very quiet, very secluded yet close to all the things you want to see and do. The semi-private beach was great. I didn't use the pool and I would probably say that was one of the downsides to the place. It was not very large and faced away from the beach. The room was clean, and the linens were fabulous. Very cozy and crisp. The little mini soaps and shampoos are awesome--they are what Bath and Body Works sells in their stores! We had an ocean front room and it was a nice view, but the patio was a little too small to really enjoy. The staff was friendly and we were able to use all the amentities even before we checked in. I would go back to this place again for sure. And one more note--if it's good enough for famous people to stay at then it's good enough for me. I won't drop any names, but we did have someone in the music industry there staying the same time we were. :)

“Very relaxing,great view, nice room”

Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Jul 7, 2008

We stayed from June 28th through July 5th. Our room was not available upon arrival (noon). We went into the restaurant and sat outside with a drink and very much enjoyed the view. We then went for a walk in the area (beautiful homes nearby). After returning we were informed our room was not ready. After relaxing in the lobby and chit chatting to some of the help, one of the bellboys said he would check on the room for us. It was ready. We were on the 16th floor of the tower. The room was very nice, clean, and the view was spectacular. At night, all was quiet - no disturbances at all. We took the hotel shuttle for convenience to the boardwalk even though we had a vehicle of our own. It was very convenient. They started from 9 am through 10 at night. We enjoyed the location. The beach was not over crowded. On the 4th, there definately were more people then what we had seen that week, however, still not overcrowded as was down on the boardwalk. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We ate breakfast (3 times) as well as dinner (twice) at the location.

“Great quiet location.... outdated rooms”

Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

3 of 5 stars
Chicago, illinois
Jun 29, 2008

Stayed here with spouse and 2 small children for 2 nights (Wed and Thurs) in June. The location is excellent. The beach wasnt too crowded, on Thurs and Friday. Public beach access right next to hotel. Lifeguards present after 10am . We never went to the boardwalk , just enjoyed the beach. There are 2 pools , an inside and outside one. The inside one is tiny. If it were to rain i think 10 people in inside pool would be very crowded. Outside one medium sized. We stayed in smaller hotel connected to bigger one. This one was only 5 stories. (My wife didnt want to be too high up with the kids.) If you have the choice , choose higher up than story 5 and you will be in newer building , I think. Heard a rumor that it was bought by Wyndham and connected somehow. Hallways very narrow, but nicely tiled. Room very dated with ugly abstract paintings from the 80s or early 90s. Bathrooms very dated with rusty drains and cracking vanity tops. I dropped something on floor that rolled under the bed. When i looked i found empty booze bottles and kleenex under beds. Housekeeping needs to look and clean under there. Covered parking garage is available. Balconies on smaller building not very private. No walls separating , just railings. On bigger building there are walls separating. Has a large outdoor patio by the beach where we played some catch. Had a great stay at the beach. Great quiet location. Needs updating.

“Warning guests with Pets going to the Wyndham Hotel!!!”

Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Jun 27, 2008

My partner and I went to the Wyndham Hotel in June of 2008. We brought along our small Shih Tzu because we were told that they accepted pets.We booked directly with the hotel and not online, the hotel confirmed that we would had an oceanfront room with a King sized bed, non smoking with a 40 dollar pet fee for all three nights. We did not get a ocean front room. The room had two full sized beds and we were told upon check in that we would be charged 25 dollars EACH night for the pet. The room was marked non smoking but clearly had been smoked in by evidence of cigarette stains on the sink and table.

When we went into the room, the room was barely cleaned. I did not want walk on the carpet because the floor was very dirty with pet stains and sand. The room was also very small; it could barely fit the furniture. Part of the carpet was coming up next to the wall. The sink was cracked and the tub was completely clogged and the toilet kept running all night long. The mini fridge had a solid block of frost in the freezer section. The beach in front of the hotel, was not kept up as nicely as it is on the boardwalk. There were pieces of broken shells and glass all the way down to the water.

Overall, we did not rate this hotel as terrible, because we have stayed in worse. However, the reputation of the Wyndham Company needs to make sure that ALL of their hotels are kept up to order. Needless to say, we were very dissapointed and will not stay in this hotel again.

“Nothing Special”

Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

May 18, 2008

My room was a old, tired beach hotel room. The halls are all sandy tile and my room was an open plan with no closer-just hanging rack and a large bar/food/sink/vanity area. Really nothing special.
