“Meets The Need For Business Traveler”

Hilton Springfield

3 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Jun 3, 2008

Hotel is very convenient to DC metro area.

On site restaurant is very good and highlight of this hotel. Lunch selections were interesting and well prepared; cost for this area was very reasonable (and surprisingly affordable for restaurant on Hilton premises). Breakfast buffet included in room price was great, lot of choices and all good. Only quibble was no "cook to order" options (as example, could not order an omelet, only choice for eggs were scrambled in on-line serving station).

Room was average for Hilton but no better. While room had decent furniture, bed was comfortable and room was clean, well regulated (temperature) and adequate in size, you do not get amenities you normally find at much lower priced hotels. As example, neither a microwave oven nor a mini-refrigerator were available. Bath amenities (shampoo, hand cream, etc) above average, all linen fine. TV was about 32 inch in size; standard (not flat screen) and standard channel selections, including HBO. Room did have coffee maker, iron, and hair dryer. All basics covered and room was clean and comfortable but nothing memorable.

No view from window; this hotel meant clearly for business travelers. Did not use pool or workout area but both available. Hotel does provide a business center (no extra charge) with two computers and printers and basic MS Office software. I did not check but rooms told rooms do have wireless LAN.

Front desk service quick and efficient. Free USA Today newspaper provided. Lobby not large but very well appointed and classy look.

No stores adjoin hotel but Mall and other stores and restaurants within mile (short drive).

In short, good hotel but nothing spectacular. Good choice for business traveler but felt value at price paid for Government rate ($203 per night) was below average.

“Time to Bulldoze or Renovate”

Hilton Springfield

Atlanta, Georgia

It's 2008 and once again Hilton has not acknowledged the age and decay of one of their hotels. The only pluses here - the convenient location right next to I-95 and the bed was really comfortable. I'm beginning to see a trend with Hilton hotels - they spend all their money on the lobby, for a good first-impression - but the rest is totally neglected.
Simply this - if you need a place to flop for a night, it's doable but not worth the price. Choose a newer hotel in the area.

“Good Stay at this Centrally Located Hotel”

Hilton Springfield

3 of 5 stars
Charlottesville, VA
Apr 16, 2008

I stayed here for one night on the way home from a hockey game in Washington.

The hotel is located directly across the street from Springfield Mall & Massive Food Court Area.

Located off of Interstate 95 and located in the downtown area of Springfield.

There is still construction in and around the area of the interstate and roads but that didn't affect me.

The rooms are nice & colorful and the breakfast the next morning was good.

Internet access was sufficient and worked well at times and okay at other times.

Good hotel for conducting business and located about 10-15 mins from Washington.

“Mediocre, and $200 a night”

Hilton Springfield

2 of 5 stars
San Diego
Apr 11, 2008

Had a non-smoking room reserved (allergic to smoke). Desk clerk insisted that all that were left were smoking rooms, and was rude. Manager found a non-smoking room in 30 sec...

Room was next to ice machine, very noisy.

Water leak in room, and the maintenance crew threw my clothes on the bed when they were fixing it.

Dated decor, needs an update. Lots of schools use this hotel, and there always seems to be a lot of noise.

Staff is below average, there are many better options for hotels in this area. Hilton seems to be resting on their reputation a lot lately, there are many other hotel chains that are becoming viable alternatives.
