We arrived here after travelling for 11 days, deliberately choosing an apartment rather than a hotel so we could catch up on laundry. Our problems started with check-in. At about 7 pm there was no one on reception as it closed at 6pm. We found later we were supposed to be given a code number so we could unlock a safe and get our keys but we did not get one. There was a phone number to ring for help but we couldn't connect with it. Fortunately we had an Australian friend with a mobile phone who could ring it - and got voicemail. Eventually we got through and got in - we think it would be reasonable to have someone on reception later than 6pm.

Our next disappointment was the washing machine - an old top loader with no instructions and no facility for fabric conditioner. We could only put detergent straight on the washing, which we found from previous experience causes problems so we could not use it. Housekeeping told us some other apartments had newer front loaders. No use to us though.

The location was disappointing. There is a long sandy but narrow beach and the weather was usually too wet or windy to visit it (early May). Perth city centre was a half hour bus ride away and Fremantle beyond that, so it was not a good base for exploring those cities. Local amenities were limited. There was one local car hire office which offered poor value for money - you would probably get a better deal from Perth city centre or the airport.

It was a 2 bedroom apartment, plenty of room for just 2 of us. Apart from the washing machine all the other facilities were OK. There was air conditioning in the lounge, but only a fan in one bedroom, which might be a problem at a hotter time of year. On the last 2 days we were disturbed by neighbours noise through walls and ceilings - we got the impression walls were thin without much sound insulation.

Perth is a beautiful city and we would recommend anyone to visit it, but not to be based at Scarborough if you want to spend time in Perth and Fremantle and by the Swan River.

Stayed here for 5 days and came away extremely contented with everything.
Our apartment enjoyed a front line 270 degrees view from a large balcony which was accessible from both the sitting room and front bedroom.
Internally the apartment was spotless(excluding a bad stain on the carpet) and had all the facilities one could ask for including washing machine, tumble drier and aircon.
Both bedrooms were of a very good size and there was no appreciable noise to worry about ,other than the crash of waves which was bliss.
The public areas were spotless and the pool area was very well maintained.Though the sauna was out of action for some reason. There are vending machines and a bbq area around the pool which again were well maintained.
The apartments enjoy excellent security and secure off road parking.
All in all though not as cheap as some other apartments Seashells proved excellent value for moneyand a wonderful base for the Scarborough area.I am looking frd to returning with my children next time we go to Australia.
Please note not all apartments enjoy full frontage views so it would be worth clarifying when you book.

We stated here in March for 3 weeks in March and we had a excellent stay. We booked directly with the hotel. We needed a 3 bedroom apartment which they offered us. This was adjacent to the main block but provided breath taking views over the ocean.

We were given a room on the top floor. Room consisted of 4 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room with all mod cons, eg widescreen television and cd player. Added bonus was a walk in laundry room in the apartment. Throughout the complex it was clean and well maintained. There are two pools at this hotel one located in the main complex and one in the block we stayed in.

The resort itself is excellent. It has a handful of shops and restaurants for all your needs and located next to the complex is a small supermarket. The complex is 200 metres from the beach, with great views of the ocean. The beach itself is the cleanest and safest I have ever been to. There are frequesnt buses to Perth city centre from the resort and very cheap aswell.

Overall the Seashells apartments are great and I would fully recommend a stay here.

We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed self catering and strolling across to the beach or along to the friendly restaurants in the vicinity - all sorts ~ McDs!, American bar, Italian and family restaurants and an "English style" pub. Need a car to get around and parking is no problem either on site or in the open air car park to the front. Wide Beach and sea to the front and I'd recommend upgrading to the best room you can afford in the main block as we were first shown a unit to the side with no view so we paid for a 2 bed sea view apt and our balcony overlooked the sea and the sunsets are fabulous. Only trouble is pool is shaded most of the day so the water's not the warmest but seemed to be clean and well maintained, also reception is not manned 24 hrs a day - would stay again or at the Rendevous Observation which looked classy just along the road.
