Having read some of the other reviews for this property we did not have high expectations prior to our arrival. Mostly however the hotel was OK and I feel some of the other reviews are not quite fair. This is afterall a mid priced close to airport hotel not a 5 star resort.
On arrival I asked for a room on the ground floor as we had lots of luggage and I did not fancy dragging heavy cases up the stairs to the upper floor. Despite the fact that the hotel had already allocated a 1st (upper) floor room my request was quickly actioned without problem. The hotel was arranged in four blocks around a courtyard with a small swimming pool. It has a restaurant and a bar. Our family room (1 x queen and 2 singles) with the now familiar faced brick walls was very large with full width floor to ceiling windows looking onto the courtyard. The hotel is undergoing a programme of re-furbishment by new owners and our room although perfectly clean, and comfortable did look like it could do with some re-modelling and perhaps some work to remove a faint odour lingering from times when smoking was permitted in the room. The lighting although pleasant was not quite bright enough overall for those who might need to do anything other than read in bed.
The wash-room was a little dim and old-fashioned with the walls covered with unattractive brown tiles. Two basins were housed in a basic vanity unit and the shower sat over a quite old looking spa bath. The shower did pass my ‘Shower Test’ with good amounts of hot water, easily adjustable to a comfortable temperature.
This hotel is very close to a number of fast-food restaurants and car-hire location and is only 5 minutes by car from the terminals at Melbourne Intl. Airport.
For those who do not demand the facilities and familiarity of the Marriots etc. this establishment is perfect for those stopping over near the airport.
