“Awesome”

House Mountain Inn

I have nothing negative to say about the stay at the Inn. The only bad thing was we didnt stay there long enough! Tim & Jamie's hospitality is second to none! the lodge is huge the rooms are big. Hot tubs on the deck is great along with the spacious bathrooms. The chef 's food is awesome even through a blender!!! ha ha . I cant wait to come back and sit on the deck and watch the deer. I recomend this place to everyone!

Thanks again tim,jamie and chef

“Perfect Getaway”

House Mountain Inn

Feb 13, 2008

Spent last weekend at House Mountain. Could not have asked for better lodging, scenery, food and attention. Each room is unique; our room had a fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Some have hot tub on balconey. Rooms and bathrooms on first floor are spacious and wheelchair accessible. The view of mountains takes your breath away but the best feature is the attention - the personal attention. The family who runs the Inn are helpful and always smiling. Fishing gear can be provided for the pond; trails all around to hike; horseback riding. available.
A big country breakfast comes with rate as well as a yummy dinner with good choice of entres.
Wine hour with cheese every day.
We'll definitely go back - Oh, I must mention Gus - the resident bloodhound - He might be your guide and escort you hiking, if he is around.
I could go on and on but go see for yourself.

“Definitely going back!”

House Mountain Inn

My husband and I visited in April and we're still talking about our trip. This lodge is managed by the most delightly family--the service is excellent. Rooms are beautiful, views are awesome. Make sure to eat in the dining room because the food is wonderful. Hike to the "look-out" they have built in the mountain--it is a view you won't forget! We will definitely return.

We are finishing up the last night of our stay as I compose this review. I must say that I tend to be very picky about where I stay and I expect the quality of service to match what I pay. My expectations have certainly been met with House Mountain Inn. I read the reviews of others and it seemed other people were very satisfied, which helped me make a decision. The attention to detail was excellent and the hosts made you feel more than welcome by everything they did. The scenery, inn, and rooms were abolutely beautiful. The meals were great and there really are some fun things to enjoy in downtown Lexington. If you are considering staying here I would highly recommend that you really make a reservation.

“Love House Mountain Inn”

House Mountain Inn

Rockbridge County is one of the most beautiful, rural places left in Virginia. House Mountain Inn itself, tucked right into Big House Mountain, is a traditional mountain lodge, that doesn't try to compete with the reason it was built where it is - to allow guests find a place among the trees or the sky to recall who you want to be. This was my third visit in the past year to House Mountain Inn. Everytime I leave, I am already planning my return before I'm down the mountain.

The Irvines are amazing - if you need privacy and quiet to think, write, or hike; then privacy is what you get. If you come to House Mountain seeking adventure and fellowship, they will help you arrange wilderness excursions into the Jefferson National Forest on horseback. With six miles of well-maintained hiking trails around House Mountain you can hike easily and safely alone or with friends. When you come back from a day of hiking or riding, soak in your private hot tub for awhile!!

The chef is very attentive and creative. Breakfast is your choice of continental or from a menu selection. I try to choose from the menu, unless I'm leaving early for riding. Breakfast (pumpkin pancakes, made to order omelettes, strawberry french toast, belgian waffles w/ peaches) is so yummy and filling that you won't need lunch. If you do though, ask the staff to pack you a box lunch and they will make you a healthy, delicious, and ample lunch - which they did for us to take on our trail ride into the national forest (we couldn't eat it all!). Dinners are served in a simple, but elegant dinning room that overlooks the mountains. I am always stuffed by the time dessert comes, but it's too good to pass up.

House Mountain Inn has become my favorite home away from home. I love it; my family does, too. House Mountain Inn is a special place in one of the few undeveloped areas of Virginia. The location is stunning; to me, there are few places left in the world like Rockbridge County. But, it's the Irvines and their family (Jamie, Tim, Carrie, Jeff, Katie) who make this place so special. House Mountain Inn is a family-run business. Like any family-run business, that business will reflect the family itself. The Irvines are a kind, honest, generous, hard working family. They've built House Mountain Inn with these values as much as anything else.
