Stayed at the Grand Summit for a professional conference, and was quite disappointed. The place seemed pretty empty, but I was given a room with a view of the roof of the ballroom (only -- could not see the mountains at all). I complained, so was moved to a room over the deli -- with the vibration of the refrigeration units directly below all night long. Staff were not accommodating, acted as it was my fault. One staff member walked into my room unannounced, and said in surprise "Oh, this room is usually empty." I understand why.
The studio unit with pull down bed is not for those with bad backs.....but is OK I suppose -- if you don't mind moving the kitchen table first and trying to sleep within 3 feet of the refrigerator hum and the clock on the microwave shining in your eyes. The pillows were like sacks of hard clumped something-you-don't-want-to-know-about -- not comfy!
The hotel has delusions of grandeur, wanting to look like the grand arts and crafts hotels out west, but it fails, squeezing arts and crafts lobby details into a very small space. Lobby and halls are filled most nights with smoke from the lobby fireplace (flue problems? they should not be getting back draft like that, and the scent of old wood smoke in the halls first thing in the morning is not sweet.)
Yes, it is right at the lift gates, and that's probably what you pay for. But as an accommodation, you can do much better. With some work and an attitude adjustment that could truly make this "grand" -- but it seems they don't really care to. Keep looking.
