I have stayed at this hotel at least twice a year for the past 3 years but am trying to find a better hotel for less money.
At first I was wowed, but as the years have passed, the hotel began to look worn while the cost kept going up. For the price of about $100 per night, you can get a much better hotel in Dallas. If you must stay near Rockwall, for now, the LaQuinta is the best you can get. The Holiday Inn Express is across the highway. It is not much better, but it is about $20 cheaper. In both hotels, the staff are courteous.
When I stay at the LaQuinta, I like the clean room (except in suite), courteous staff, the large rooms, large bathrooms, free internet, free hot breakfast, microwave and fridge in the rooms, low noise, free freshly made cookies day and night, large indoor pool with big windows, and decent sized bathroom.
They have 2 suites. The living room with sofa bed is large and looks like a home. The bedroom is small with barely enough room to get around. I think it has a king bed. I have stayed in the king room twice. The second time it was dusty, worn looking, and large stains around the ventilation system between the two rooms. If you have small kids, have different sleep schedules, or teens then the set up might be nice. The suite generally costs between $120 and $150. I think the suite is great if it fits your needs just check it first before you accept the room to make sure that it is up to your standards.
I dislike that the prices go up on the first weekend of the month, the cost in general which is pricer that it should be for a LaQuinta. I dislike the worn look and lack of maintenance in the suite. I dislike the very worn looking exercise room. I dislike that they only have one computer for the guests and that computer is usually occupied.
I like that this LaQuinta used to be a different hotel brand so it looks different. It has an elevator which some 2 story indoor entrance hotels in this area do not have.
Costs go up on the first weekend of every month due to a huge flea market about a 30 minute drive south of the hotel.
A gigantic church is next door to the hotel. If the chuch has function or guest artists, the traffic is horrendous getting to and from the hotel. If you like church functions, then walk over and join in.
Eating places like Chili's and Applebees are walking distance. A cool BBQ restaurant is in the same parking lot as the hotel. I love their food. Grocery stores are a short drive away. There is no public transportation.
I love stopping in the city of Rockwall as I drive through on I-30. It is small with great discounted shopping nearby. The natives are usually friendly. I usually feel safe in Rockwall, but of course nowhere is 100% safe.
