“Pleasantly Suprised”

Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria

This was another Hotel points stay for a vacation. I had never stayed in a Garden Inn before.

The hotel was lovely. The reception area was inviting and the staff was friendly. Check-in was a breeze.

The room was well laid out and the decor was modern and pleasing. The room had a small refrigerator and microwave.

The parking area, located behind the hotel and part of their property runs $8.00 per day, which I found unusual.

The hotel is a short walk from the Galleria mall, which I did not visit. Instead we took a drive down to Kemah Boardwalk for an afternoon of fun.

The bed was very comfortable and it was a good rest. Breakfast the next morning was complimentary as I am a Hilton Honors member. I think it should run in at about $9.00.

Breakfast was a buffet with many choices and you can request additional items like an omelet. Coffee and tee is available 24 hours.

Wireless internet is available and work well. The pool area looked very inviting, however did not take advantage of it.

Overall a very pleasant stay.

“I will only stay at HHGs”

Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria

1 of 5 stars
Houston Galleria
Jun 30, 2008

I always look for HHGs when I travel and was elated to find one so close to the Houston Galleria. However, the front desk staff was having an off weekend. Coming to town for a funeral is not the best time to visit and when I get to the HHG to check in, I'm thinking this will go very quickly since there were 3 people at the front desk. My, my was I wrong. Two people were working on one guest and the other one is just standing there. However, when more guest appeared, he offered to help them and just left me there looking stupid. I interrupted and was told one of the others would get to me shortly, so there I was left waiting again. Since one of the couples who also came for the funeral wanted to pay cash for their room, I told the front desk to hold with my AE credit card. Finally settled in for the night only to be awaked at 6:30 a.m. for a complete evacuation of the property for a false fire alarm. Went to the funeral only to return to find my room cards no longer worked. Had to return to the front desk for new ones. Go out shopping and to dinner on Saturday night and return around 11:30 to find out the new keys do not work on any of the doors to enter the hotel. Had to walk around to front of the building to be let in by the front desk and then get new room keys again. Finally, on the morning of checkout both rooms were charged to my credit card and it took almost an act of congress to get it removed. I thought we had worked this out, but once I receive my AE statement both rooms were still on my card. I then phone the hotel and was told that the room we paid cash for was actually charged to my credit card. It was only after I requested to speak with the Manager was I told the cash amount was shown for the room. However, I still had to call AE to dispute the charge and as of today, it is still outstanding on my AE account. Also, please be aware there is an $8 charge for parking in their garage.

I will continue to stay at HHGs since I am a HHonors member and there facilities are quite clean. In fact I will be coming to Houston soon.

“nice hotel but works hard to charge for little things”

Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria

Good mid-range hotel with good location near the Galleria. But beware, it charges for parking. On weekends, no newspapers unless you want to buy the local paper.

“For the money, you can't beat it!”

Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria

I'm a Hilton Honors member so I looked at the reviews for all of their hotels in the area. This one came highly recommended and now I see why. For the money, you can't beat it.
The rooms are very nice. Double bed room is adequately sized for two travelers. Very Clean! I can't say enough about the Hilton beds. They are so comfortable I'm thinking about buying one for my home. This hotel had a great bar with a very nice bar tender who knew a thing or two about making martinis. Free shuttle service within a 3 mile area but we didn't need it because this hotel is really within walking distance of any attraction/good restaurant in the galleria area. We went to dinner at a Japanese restaurant down the street which was excellent. A little pricey but worth it if you like this kind of food. The next day we ate at the Mexican restaurant next store to Japanese place but it was not very good. I think the name was Maggie Rita's or something like that. The service was awful and the food definitely not noteworthy. This hotel is a gem and if I ever return to Houston, I'll be staying there again! The taxi fare is around $46.00 to the airport (Hobby) and takes around 25 minutes on a Sunday afternoon.

“Very nice! Shoppers Delight”

Hilton Garden Inn Houston Galleria

5 of 5 stars
Dallas, Texas
Mar 20, 2008

We had a great experience! Staff was professional, hotel was spotless, very peaceful area at night. We spent our Valentines weekend at this hotel and plan to return Memorial day weekend. I am quite the shopper and the Galleria was right around the
corner within walking distance, 1 1/2 blocks per say.
Restaurant choices were plenty, within 2-5 minutes from the hotel and many choices were available in the Galleria as well. Treat yourself to a pleasant get away soon!
