“Top marks for this Courtyard!”

I stayed at this Courtyard shortly after renovations were finished and I have to say they did a nice job. I arrived after dark and the neighborhood felt kind of "sketchy" but once in the hotel I felt safe. Front desk staff at check-in was great; I was travelling without my laptop and they helped me find a Kinkos where I could get on-line. The hotel is not far (10-15 minutes, if that) from "Restaurant Row" so finding something to eat at 9:00 PM was easy. My room was newly renovated and spotlessly clean. I found the bed to be most comfortable. My room connected to the adjacent room so rather than a sofa I had a very comfortable oversized chair. Rooms have been upgraded with refrigerator and microwave. I was only staying the night and had an early monring so I didn't get to use the hot tub or exercise room and I didn't have time for breakfast in the restaurant. I utilized "express" check out which meant I could by-pass the front desk and be on my way. In daylight the neighborhood looked better and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Completely Serviceable”

Courtyard by Marriott Dallas LBJ at Josey

3 of 5 stars
Atlanta, GA
Nov 1, 2007

I had a family reunion to attend in Dallas and I had Marriott points to spend, so I decided to stay at this location due to its convenience to my family.

The gentlemen at the desk seemed a bit confused about how to process my pre-paid (with points) reservation, but he got it all sorted out in decent time.

I had requested a non-smoking room and was informed that the hotel was 100% smoke free. Someone should have passed that information onto the folks who had the room before me because it REEKED! There are fabric deodorizers and I think the room needed to be saturated, the smell was so ingrained.

But I'm made of stern stuff, and pretty much, that was the worst I can say about the place. The building is arranged around a pool and spa area, so my arcadia door opened onto a patio and the hot tub. I like a window you can actually open.

I didn't eat breakfast because Courtyard does not provide it free, and I'm not paying $12 for what I can get at a diner for $4. Besides, my mom cooked, so I didn't need breakfast. The hotel does provide cookies, tea and coffee throughout the day, which is a nice touch.

I never did find the ice machine, but the security guy was very friendly and helpful and got me ice from the kitchen.

As a Silver level member, I was provided with a 16 oz bottle of water. I wonder why they bothered.

I'll be staying here at Thanksgiving. It's the least expensive Courtyard I've stayed at. The beds are indeed firm. I love a hard bed so I was in heaven. The a/c unit was noisy and it was hard to keep the room at a constant temperature. It's along side the LBJ, but you don't hear any freeway noise.

The location is good if you need to be in this area or close to the freeway, but it's not near anything and at night, it can get desolate. There's a QT gas station next door to the hotel. You can get fountain drinks, coffee, snack cakes, chips, candy and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, so if you're stuck here, you don't have to go hungry. (If you're willing to eat a gas station hot dog.)

“Comfortable, friendly, and clean”

Everything at this Courtyard is what you would expect. Clean, comfortable, and prompt attention by the staff. There's a convenient store next door, and a short drive to some good areas with a lot of restaurants. I usually stay at the Fairfield, and honestly, I don't see much of an improvement with the Courtyard, but it is somewhat more comfortable. I couldn't speak fairly about the Courtyard chain, yet, since I haven't stayed at enough of them.

“From OK to No Way”

Paint splattered elevators and entrance, no fitness center, having to wait on workers to let us use elevators and entrance ways. Signage in wrong locations and placed wrong. Beds that are sooooo firm they will last forever because it is almost impossible to sleep on them.
All the above was the good things about our stay in the newly renovated section of this "helltel". Staff could care less about your problems, but I'm not sure how. I know I previously said not to stay here during construction, but I honestly thought it would be over by now. Evidently it may never end. One of the worst rehab's of a property in my over 30 years in the construction business all over the country. Bad color schemes, wrong decor blends in rooms, useless colorful sash's at the ends of the beds, sorry I used to do punch lists for a living before I retired and it's hard to stop once I get started. Avoid this place, go to a Hampton Inn instead, they're nicer and cheaper too.
