I had a family reunion to attend in Dallas and I had Marriott points to spend, so I decided to stay at this location due to its convenience to my family.
The gentlemen at the desk seemed a bit confused about how to process my pre-paid (with points) reservation, but he got it all sorted out in decent time.
I had requested a non-smoking room and was informed that the hotel was 100% smoke free. Someone should have passed that information onto the folks who had the room before me because it REEKED! There are fabric deodorizers and I think the room needed to be saturated, the smell was so ingrained.
But I'm made of stern stuff, and pretty much, that was the worst I can say about the place. The building is arranged around a pool and spa area, so my arcadia door opened onto a patio and the hot tub. I like a window you can actually open.
I didn't eat breakfast because Courtyard does not provide it free, and I'm not paying $12 for what I can get at a diner for $4. Besides, my mom cooked, so I didn't need breakfast. The hotel does provide cookies, tea and coffee throughout the day, which is a nice touch.
I never did find the ice machine, but the security guy was very friendly and helpful and got me ice from the kitchen.
As a Silver level member, I was provided with a 16 oz bottle of water. I wonder why they bothered.
I'll be staying here at Thanksgiving. It's the least expensive Courtyard I've stayed at. The beds are indeed firm. I love a hard bed so I was in heaven. The a/c unit was noisy and it was hard to keep the room at a constant temperature. It's along side the LBJ, but you don't hear any freeway noise.
The location is good if you need to be in this area or close to the freeway, but it's not near anything and at night, it can get desolate. There's a QT gas station next door to the hotel. You can get fountain drinks, coffee, snack cakes, chips, candy and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, so if you're stuck here, you don't have to go hungry. (If you're willing to eat a gas station hot dog.)
