No doubt this is a nice hotel. In some aspects this is a fantastic hotel. However we had a few problems. My husband and I spent 2 nights here in order to attend a concert at the American Airlines Center (which is within walking distance) and to celebrate his birthday. Initially I booked the room online, but decided to upgrade to the Club level. To do this I called the hotel directly. The lady on the phone was very helpful in getting this accomplished. In addition to moving to the club level she was able to offer us a corner room for the same price. Our corner room was very nice (724). It had views in 2 directions. The bathroom was a very nice size and had a double vanity. The room was very clean and I really liked the big closet. Our problems came in the service arena. We made reservations for Fearings. The only openings they had were early or late. We took the late opening. When we finally found the restaurant hostess desk through the huge bar crowd, it took minutes for either hostess to acknowledge us. We were told a table was not currently available, but should be soon and they would come find us in the huge crowd when a table was free.(really?) After 20 minutes, we decided to check back, again in took minutes to be acknowledged and told it would just be a few more minutes. Told another guy the same thing. When we finally decided to leave and order room service we informed the hostess we were leaving, we were offered a drink but please, it is approaching 11pm, we had been travelling and were tired and just wanted to have a nice dinner. It seemed obvious to us that they were not too concerned with the hotel guests. So we went up to the room and ordered room service which arrived quickly and wasn't bad. When we finished we called to have the cart packed up and removed from the room. It shouldn't take more than 1 call to get this accomplished at a Ritz-Carlton. No one ever came. We finally got the cart near the door and there it stayed until the next day. Gross. There was no where to put the cart outside the room without going halfway down the hall with it. So my advise if you do want to try the highly touted restaurant, call early for a reasonable reservation time. We found the house keeping staff to be friendly. The club personnel were OK. Other guests usually had them tied up and we were not able to have much interaction with them. For some presentations we hoped for a bit larger selection of food items. This trip was a splurge for us and for the price paid I expect better service than we experienced. We loved the room and it felt luxurious, just wish the service had been just as luxurious.

“Top Notch Ritz”

Ritz-Carlton Dallas

5 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Apr 21, 2008

A recent four night stay at the Ritz Carlton Dallas was about as good as it gets in the world of business hotels. Physically the hotel is very well maintained and handsomely decorated, with loads of marble and rich woods evident in the lobby and guest rooms. The check in experience was quick, professional and flawless. My room was large, comfortable and well equipped. I especially appreciated the large flat panel TV, clock radio with iPod dock and easy-to-use safe. The wireless access in the room was easy to configure, though I could never get the wired version to work. The gym was very nice for a hotel fitness center too, with new equipment with built in TV monitors. My one beef is that the lobby bar can get crazy busy, so if you're looking to relax with a cocktail you may be better off somewhere else.

As nice as the physical setting was, I think the service was particularly distinguished. Every request was greeted with a smile and it was clear that the employees were dedicated to pleasing their customers. A few examples: I asked for a NY Times instead of USA Today on day 2. When day 3 brought the unwanted USA Today to my door, I called downstairs and within a minute or two a bellman was at my door with the Times and profuse apologies. Later during my stay that same bellman greeted by name when I encountered him again. When I asked an employee where the restrooms were in the banquet area, rather than just tell me, she escorted me there. The concierge prepared hand written directions to local attractions in alternate versions, one if I were walking, and another if I were taking the tram since I hadn't made up my mind. I hadn't stayed in a Ritz for a while, but it was good to be back.

“The Best in the USA!”

Ritz-Carlton Dallas

5 of 5 stars
Springfield, IL
Mar 28, 2008

This is quite possibly the best hotel in the United States! Everything is very stylish and brand new. The staff is amazing and goes out of their way every time. This is most true for the Club Lounge staff. We were there for every food/beverage presentation and were welcomed and assisted at all times. When were we there in the evening, drinking and talking for around 3-4 hours, the attendant offered us drinks about every 20 minutes and made our next day departure arrangements for us. Roomwise, we had the Presidential Suite, so there is nothing to fault there!

Do yourself a favor and eat at the hotel’s restaurant. It is amazing! We were given a tour by the manager and told that it cost around $14 million to create. Some of the walls are lined in amber and the bar is covered in preserved rattlesnake skin (hence the name, Rattlesnake Bar). There are several rooms to pick from, all decorated in different styles, including a great outdoor area. The food is delicious and everything is made onsite, even the ice cream! If you are planning on having dinner there, make reservation in advance, as the Dallas elite pull up in their Bentley’s to eat here.

One minor imperfection is that many of the housekeeping staff are Hispanic and don’t speak English. They are still very friendly and smile as you do by!

I had a meeting at the Four Seasons one evening and had a chance to compare. The Four Seasons is old, warn out, and offers inferior service!

Upon departure, we were given a gift from the Club Lounge staff! It consisted of a hand written note, 2 bottles of water, and 2 boxes of crackers, all in a signature Ritz-Carlton bag! Nothing much, but still a very nice touch to a great stay!

This is certainly my favorite hotel in the USA and I can’t wait to return!

“This Ritz is fabulous!!”

Ritz-Carlton Dallas

5 of 5 stars
ft worth
Mar 23, 2008

I just returned from a weekend stay at the Ritz Carlton in Dallas. The property has been open about 7 months. From the initial greeting on the driveway unitl we left the property it was a fabulous experience. I have stayed at many RC properties and this one is the best so far. We had a junior suite (#831) it was spacious, well appointed and very clean. Minor complaint was the coffee maker was not working and the bedside clock had a short in it. The bathroom was seperate tub and shower with double vanities and storage space and very well lit for ladies.
The closet was big and there is a chest of drawers in the room for clothes, too. The room was immaculate. We used the spa and facilities. Very accomodating and the couples reconnect package is awesome and romantic. Gabriel is a terrific massage therapist. Spa facilities are nice, new and clean. Room service wil deliver food to the spa for a meal in the relaxation room. The hotel pool is very pretty and has dining available poolside from room service. The restaurant on property, Fearings is an absolute must. Dean Fearing himself came to our table to talk to us and make sure everything was to our liking and to just talk, The food is very, very good. Expensive, but creative, top-notch and innovative cuisine. The surroundings of the restaurant vary depending on which area you sit in. There is an outside patio and bar with a fireplace that was packed with all the "Beautiful" people. Just people watching from the restaurant was fun. The Mavs had an event there the same night so a lot of them were on property. The rattlesnake bar is a nice place to sit and have a drink before the crowds arrive. The Ritz serves mini margaritas and guacomole nachos from 6-6:30 each evening in the lobby to it's guests. Afternoon tea was available to guests at 2PM. The lobby is beautiful as is the whole property. Location is suberb. AA Center/Victory Park is a 3 block walk, the museums are 1 block and the trolley runs through the area. This property should do very well.

“Exceeds Expectations”

Ritz-Carlton Dallas

5 of 5 stars
Minneapolis
Mar 17, 2008

Like most of you, I have high expectations when staying at a Ritz that is why I am willing to pay a premium price or else I would stay at a Motel 6. The location of the hotel is located within a block of some nice high-end shops. I did read the other reviews prior to my stay. Either we lucked out with a great experience or they fixed the other issues people complained about.

The entire staff was attentive to my needs as expected. Everyone (Ritz Staff) greeted you as they passed or inquired if you needed assistance with anything. Prior to my arrival, I informed them I was there for a special occasion. They assisted me with sending champagne and choco strawberries up to my suite. We had a suite on the club concierge level for the weekend. The suite was a typical Ritz classic and very clean with all the usual Ritz amenities. They even have real HD TVs (channels broadcasted in HD) with a BOSE 3-2-1 system and had iPod dock in the bedroom for your iPod. The hotel restaurant Fearings is absolutely phenomenal. You must have the Sunday Brunch and it also draws a well-dressed affluent night crowd at the bar. Speaking of food, Abacus is outstanding and the Dallas Fish Market is good (both located within a mile). We did order breakfast for room service and it came up within 15-20mins as promised. It was good and hot. The have a nice workout room for a hotel. The pool is small; but if you wanted a larger one; stay at a resort. The club level is nice since you get five settings and free booze. It’s worth it if you use it. I thought the valet service was good and our car was ready every time we called ahead. Valet service is free for your guests or it only charges $20 for overnight. The beds are very comfortable (I like firm beds and not soft; because soft ones hurt my back) and I would say it was medium for firmness. Anytime I needed to call down for a request, it was immediately taken care of in a prompt manner.

The only complaints that I have to nitpick about were the loud construction going on next door (except on Sundays). It can wake you up in the mornings if you want to sleep in or bother you if you want to relax outside by the pool. The Club Concierge level is not as good as other Ritz Clubs. I wasn’t impressed with the food quality for the extra $$ (the best one is the Washington DC Ritz).

Overall, we had a great experience. I highly recommend it for a weekend getaway to relax, eat, and shop. We did not get a chance to try the spa. They are building a Mandarin Oriental down the street that we might also try later on. This Ritz meets and exceeds my expectations of a Ritz. Bottom line; we will return!
