I stay in Monmouth most weeks on business, and have recently made the change from staying in the Wetherspoons to this hotel, Cafe Prego. The staff are friendly and professional, and always try to accommodate your requirements. The rooms are clean, with new bathrooms - and they are excellent value. But the star is the food - fabulous, but far too tempting for my waistline! All in all it makes staying away for work a pleasure rather than a chore.

Recently myself, husband and mother attended a wedding in Monmouth town so we had to book accommodation for an overnight stay. I came accross the website [--] and we booked two rooms.
The hotel (well maybe more an inn) has eight rooms which most have been refurbished. The rooms had everything you required. They were very clean with new bathrooms and very comfortable beds. A nice touch was a room for residents where you could have a quiet coffee and relax.
We decide to have lunch in the Bistro and we were so glad we did. The Bistro is light and airy with top quality furniture and lovely tableware. Part owner Steven is also Head Chef and he leads a very efficient and friendly team. The menu had a good selection of dishes (also a lunch time specials menu). The food was of the highest quality and cooked to perfection. The wine was so good that we almost forgot we had a wedding to go to!
If you are in Monmouth (a lovely market town) and need a good meal or just an overnight stop give the Prego a go, you will not be disappointed. By the way the breakfast was excellent with the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted.
