“this hotel has had an AMAZING renovation”

Embassy Suites Memphis

THis place was below aveage the last few years. They have done a GREAT JOB ON THE RENOVATION they are still waiting for the LCD tv's but everything else is great. more itmes on the actual buffet part of breakfast would be nice, they also have some lady that acts like breakfast security I am sure she is supposed to be a host of some type but is more concerned with your name and room number

“Good hotel, lousy service”

Embassy Suites Memphis

This is nice hotel, BUT note the following: They are doing construction and although the noise is minimized, the afternoons may be filled by saws and other noises, and I would particularly avoid the floor above the ones being worked on, 2) I asked for a quiet room and got one, except that a dumpster is located directly east of the hotel and several mornings I was awakened before 6 a.m. by the beeping sounds of trucks backing up.
FINALLY: I believe that I left my video camera charger in the room, so I call FOUR times to housekeeping and NEVER received a call back; finally I called a manager on duty who assured me he would check and get back with me, but I STILL got no call or message again that day. I am totally frustrated that my charger may be there but no one has yet to even return a call to determine if it was found. Otherwise the hotel was fine.

“Good location, Poor Service”

Stayed at the Embassy Suites Memphis on March 20th for 2 nights with my family. The hotel is in a great area, with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel itself is going through some renovations, which did not impede our stay at all. The room was lovely, clean, and all items in working order.

My only problem was with the service. Our check in was prompt, and very friendly. When we were leaving to go for dinner, I asked at the front desk to have somebody sent to our room to make up the pull out bed. I was informed that all the linens were in our room, and we could do it ourselves. I insisted they send somebody to our room to do it for us, which was finally done.

The breakfast (which was included in the price) was pathetic. There was the standard breakfast buffet items (scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, as well as continental items) as well as a cooked to order omlette/egg station. Even though it was 7:30 in the morning, there were no plates, no cuttlery. And not much food. They finally brought out plates, cuttlery and fresh (?) food, but it was cold. There were only 5 people in front of me for the omlette station, but it still took almost 40 minutes to make the food. There was only 1 person responsible for clean up of the tables, so needless to say, we had to clear our own table of dirty dishes and wipe it down ourselves.

It is a good hotel, conveniently located. I would opt to eat out next time, as that was my only problem with it.

“Look out for renovations............”

Wow.....first didn't know there was construction ongoing, probably wouldn't have chosen to stay there.

Lot's of surprises: the new thermostats wouldn't allow you to choose a room temp. below 68 degrees (which doesn't sound to bad, but when it gets to 75+ and the hotel is open because of the construction it is bad) heat rises and being on the 5th floor we were miserable until the sun went down. The hotel staff just told me to open the windows.

Then after 5 minutes of trying to get hot water in the shower I called maintenence and was told that because of the old water heaters being changed over you had to run the water for 10 min to get it hot. O.K...so I ran the water for 15 min. finally got hot water and the whole family had to take consecutive showers because lets face it, if each of us had waited for a later time we would have wasted so much water...........and this just wasn't my room it was the whole hotel.

I was surprised that more people didn't leave, as it was we left early.

We did an internet search for hotels with indoor pools and chose the Embassy because they had one. The first night after our arrival I walked my son down to the pool. I could not believe the condition of the pool water. You couldn't see the bottom, it was full of soap scum and other.....well who knows what. It was gross. I would let dog swim in it, let alone my son. After I took my very dissappointed son back to the room and talked with the front desk....they loaded the pool with chemicals that you could smell before you even reached the pool room doors.

Needless to say we were very dissappointed in our stay with Embassy. I will not be staying with them again.

“A great value”

My wife and I stayed here last weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. We also stayed here on our wedding night last year. We both love staying here and feel that we get our money's worth here. They almost done with remodeling the rooms. We got one of the finished ones this time and it looked very clean and modern. The manager's reception every night is a nice touch. We enjoyed some wine and drinks with some light snacks. I think the free breakfast is my favorite part though. Omelettes, pancakes, waffles... I think there are enough choices to satisfy most people. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Memphis. Oh, one side note that stopped me from giving it an excellent rating - I booked our stay online and prepaid, however, the hotel charged me again after we checked out. When I called the next day to question this, they had already noticed the error and already sent the credit to my account. So, just be careful of that if you prepay. Other than that, our stay was great!
