“Wife Got a Rash”

Players Club Resort

We were forced to stay here because we bought into one of these time share condo visit deals with inexpensive cost for the hotel. Never again. The there places (Williamsburg, Honoloulu and now Hilton Head) we were assigned by this organization were all low end. I have read other reviews that mentioned the fitted sheets coming up during the night and sure enough it happened to us. My wife and I both woke up with our heads on bare mattress. She nows has a nasty rash on the side of her neck. We stayed one of the three nights and left.
The staff was fine, they have free wireless but you have to go to the main office building to use it. We used no other services. I did walk to the beach and it wasn't too bad of a walk. All in all, we won't be back.

A very nice large room. We loved the Spa and spent a lot of time in the indoor swimming pool. The staff was courteous and we had no problem whatsoever.

“Older Resort”

This resort is older, but it is clean. The staff for the Players Club (only there from 8-5) do themselves a great disservice in not having a presence at the front desk. The Players Club shares the resort with Spinnakers. When we checked in at 5:45 p.m, we were met by a very rude young man behind the reception desk. We found out he "had to tell us about the resort" (He gave us at most 30 seconds of his precious time) because we were not a Spinnakers patron. The walls and ceilings are thin and we could hear our neighbors activities, but the staff took care of the noisy neighbors quickly. The rooms are clean. In all because this resort shares the resort with Spinnakers, we felt like we were intruding when we visited the gym or pool. These two resorts need to work out their differences and learn to co-exist. This area is not an area which a family should bring any children as we were hard pressed in trying to keep a 14 year occupied, other than with golf.
Would I stay here again. No, thank you.

“Not an easy walk to the beach as advertized”

I chose this hotel due to proximity to the beach and because of the good price. The ad indicated that it was within easy walking distance of the beach. The room was spacious and clean. The cleaning staff was very nice. However several times when we tried to contact guest services we could not get anyone to pick up. The hotel had wireless access in the lobby only. They had dialup access in the room but when we asked about it we were told it was so slow it would be a waste of our time.

In fact the beach was a 20 minute walk at a fast pace – it was definitely not an easy walk to the beach and it was definitely not doable if you were carrying beach chairs, umbrellas etc. Fortunately the town of Hilton Head does provide free parking at the beach so all was not lost.

The closest eating place was probably a 20 minute walk from the hotel. They do not provide a continental breakfast, although the rooms do have a refridgerator (not a microwave) so you could take cereal and milk for breakfast.

“Good deal”

The Players Club is a good deal for anyone going to Hilton Head on a budget. We stayed for 5 nights while my husband attended a Van DeMeer tennis clinic. It was very clean and very quiet. The room was larger than the average and the tv brand new. The room also came with a mini fridge. I found the bed pretty comfortable too. No, it is not the Ritz - so don't book it for your honeymoon if you want something "extra special". But for the most part I cannot see why anyone would pass this deal up. We paid $68. a night for a room with a king sized bed. Yes, it's true, the hotel front desk staff was not as professional as higher end establishments, but they weren't the worst I've ever seen either. It is a good two block walk to the beach down a path behind the tennis courts but no more than a 7-8 minute walk. I cannot believe anyone would complain about a walk that far unless they had toddlers or a physical limitation of some kind. The pool was nice and clean and we sat around it every night till 10 or 11 just chilling out and having some wine, a very relaxing place. While there was no restaurant on site there were at least 10 places to eat all right around the corner, and a grocery store. Please don't miss the New York Pizza restaurant - it was honestly the best pizza I've ever had, sadly for me they are not a chain!
