I recently stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights and overall had a great time. The hotel is well located on the island in the Palmetto Dunes complex. The rooms are very large, recently renovated, and include a kitchenette. There are 2 pools (one for families which is packed with children and one for adults only). There is ample seating around the pools and on the boardwalk facing the beach. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful landscaping.

My complaints: 1. I booked an ocean view room and ended up with a parking lot/obstructed ocean view room. I complained to the front desk as soon as we arrived in the room and was told the hotel was fully occupied and I could not be moved. The next day I went back to the front desk to complain again. The woman working at the desk actually admitted it was "misleading" to call these rooms ocean view when they in fact were partial. Later that day I was moved to the courtyard/pool/ocean view side and was much happier. I would recommend a garden view room when booking to avoid paying extra for a parking lot view. 2. You have to pay extra to get chairs on the beach. 3. Not enough shade around the pools on hot days.

I did not eat at the hotel. They recently opened a steak/seafood restaurant.

Have stayed here for years. We have a meeting here about every other year. First , the good:

1. Centrally located in Palmeto dunes.
2. On the beach
3. Decent restaurant
4. Re doing the main restaurant into HH Prime..steaks and such
4. Market on site
5. Rooms recently renovated

Now what I personally didn't like

1. This used to be a quiet, boutique hotel. Now, they've ramped up the bar, speakers outside. Any rooms facing the courtyard, be prepared to hear shrill singing and eardrum blowing bass till 12AM and longer. If you've got kids, trust me, you ain't getting any sleep till it stops.
2. Along the same lines, the rooms are accessed via outside walkways. Concrete. When inconsiderate people get back to their rooms, many of them allow the doors to SLAM shut. And I mean SLAM. Again, when the redneck bar closes, the rednecks slump back to their rooms, slurring and shrieking in their drunken stupors and make a point to SLAM the doors shut. I thought a plane had hit the building a few times.
3. Parking...very haphazard. Lines drawn in all different directions around the trees. Good luck not getting a ding in your car doors.

Maybe I'm just getting too old, but I want QUIET after midnight. Go to DAYTONA if you want to get puking drunk and out of control.

We've stayed here twice and I'd be highly suspect of any reviews that award 3 Stars or Less.

I've stayed in plenty of 4 Star properties that I'd easily classify as average or above average and I'm sorry, but none of them can compare to this Hilton Resort.

First you're inside a gated golf community.
Second, all the rooms are HUGE.
Third, all the rooms have a "Terrace Sized" Balcony
Fourth, the worst view is a partial ocean view.
Fifth, the furnishings are well, well, well, above average.

Its in the woods on the beach and yes there might be a bug or two. One bug is not an infestation !

The only negative thing I can think of would be that the food is fairly average, and like in most hotels...NOT a value.

You can walk to the nearby Marriott (yes, I think Marriott food in general is pretty good) or drive to a zillion places on the island.

I've seen rooms at the Marriott and believe me they do not compare, other than by price. The Hilton rooms are HUGE !
and they are BEAUTIFUL.

Parking @ $6 a day is a BARGAIN - this is not a Motel 6.

The wifi is free and non-food staff is top notch. Each of our stays were for 5 or 6 days and it really feels like home.

I wish I was there now !

cockroaches! OK, there was just one, but that is one too many for me. On the last night there I saw a BIG roach crawling across the wall. I had to use the guest services book to smash it. I'm sure the folks in the next room did not appreciate the noise because it took two tries. The next morning I told the front desk but they didn't seem to care. The response was something like "We are in the South...." I have stayed in many southern hotels and never had a roach crawling in my room. At least I have never seen one. Other than this the experience was ok. You don't get four star service here but this hotel is mostly about the location. It is really convenient to the beach and the pool facilities are great. The recently added firepit in the courtyard adds a nice touch. The rooms are pleasant if not a bit dated. The exterior corridors don't seem to be up to Hilton standards. On our side of the building two of the three elevators were not in service, including the service elevator. This meant that the service staff had to use the one remaining elevator as well. We do like the cafe which offers Starbucks coffee and decent sandwiches and pizza. This was our second stay here and it was not as memorable as our first. Will we return? Probably, because of the location and we usually use Hilton Honor points to cover the room. There are no other Hilton properties right on the beach in Hilton Head.
