The pool is awesome. Located right on the beach. Room was very spacious and clean. Private and comfortable. Next to the Colony Shopping, easy walk. The seafood buffett in dining room was great!

Business serviceThis hotel is in an excellent location; however some of the facilities are a bit dated. The room was a nice size, but the bathroom was very old. It was clean, but I didn't want my daughter to sit down and take a bath in it, so we did showers. The walls were faded and stained. Bottom line-unless you get a good deal on hotwire, I would never pay full price for this hotel. I would have rather stayed at the comfort inn, etc...Eventhough those hotels are 2 stars, they are newer facilties, thus nicer rooms.

Business serviceThe hotel was great. Checked in late and they had my reservation correct and the person checking me in had a few tips for dinner at night. The room was clean and very workable. The facilities were very nice. The pool area was large and the tiki bar was in a great location. The hotel is in a nice location next to a shopping center that has everything that you need within walking distance. The staff was nice and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Business serviceJust got back from a 2 night stay. The first night was at a AAA rate of $89. After talking to a couple at the Tiki Hut that evening, I learned that they got a $59 rate from the South Carolina visitors center. The next morning, I went to the front desk and advised them that I was interested in staying another night but I wanted that rate. They honored it. I find it odd that they offer a cheaper rate through the state's visitor center than through an organization devoted strictly to travel that has a loyal following.
The rooms are clean and mine had a coffee maker, small refrig and microwave. I had to call the front desk to get my room cleaned at 2pm and was told that they must have missed it because I had my "do not disturb" sign on the door earlier that morning. Whatever.
The big one is this: They will tack on a $6.95 per day "resort fee". When I asked about this, they said it was for security and that it is island wide. When I further pushed the issue and said that was not stated upfront, they said it was for parking. I pushed it further and the charge was removed.
If they don't budge on this resort fee, ask for a copy of the registration card that you sign at check in and tell them you will be contacting your credit card for a charge back. They will lose the resort fee. Shady dealings if you ask me.
Having never been to HHI, we had a great stay at the Holiday Inn. Originally, we booked at the Metropolitan Hotel, but after reading all the horrible reviews we booked here instead. The room was very clean and updated, but as mentioned by others the bathroom was in dyer need of remodeling. It was surface clean, but had some mold problems. Nothing that bad, I have a two-yr-old and I didn't checkout because of it. The other downside is that they don't have service elevators, so if you are coming and going during the day (as we were with our child), you have to fight for elevator space with the maid carts. On the upside, the location is great, we walked everywhere. The pool and kiddie pool were also very nice; plenty of chairs and nice atmosphere. A bonus was that we booked a room with "no view," but we actually had a partial ocean after all! The best rooms are front side facing the ocean and the tiki bar with live music, and have balconies. Now that we know, next time we'll spring for the extra and get one of those.
