“Was nice - probably about 3 years ago”

We stayed here based on the TA reviews. It was nice, but definately needs some attention to detail. In all fairness, I love the concept and theme - old European with a courtyard, gas lamps and vines going up the stucco. Great idea, but they need to spurce the place up. Here's what I saw (and smelled) that needed attention: some weeds amidst the gorgeous landscaping in the couryard, one gas lamp out, a strong smell of a gas leak in one area, chunks of stucco knocked out like someone may have knocked their suitcasse against the post, downright dirty cushions on the outside lawn furniture, a pretty ceramic piece in my room had a large chunk broken off. Aside from these comments, I loved the fact that our 2nd floor room had 2 balconies - one on each end - very unique. The inn has obviously recently redone their bathrooms and this was my favorite part of the experience (marble, french doors, pedestal sink). I thought the breakfast was rather lame - boring fare and too American for a European type inn, although eating outside by the courtyard was very relaxing.

“A bit different”

The hotel has been carefully designed to make you feel "at home". Well, if you live in a large house somewhere like Charleston or Savannah, it'll feel like home I guess. Easy to find, plenty of carparking and quiet location. Rooms are well sized, great bathrooms although central aircon was a bit temperamental. Breakfasts were ok but a bit limited in choice. Staff really friendly and made us feel welcome. If you're looking for somewhere not like a standard chain hotel, this is the place for you.
Can highly recommend Frankie Bones restaurant in the nearby Village Centre!

“Loved the Inn”

Main Street Inn

My husband and I loved the Main Street Inn. The accommodations do show some age, but everything was still very lovely, and the staff was very helpful. The complimentary breakfast offered was delicious, and Denise was an absolute delight! We're not inclined to come back to Hilton Head anytime soon, but if we did, we would definitely stay here again!

“It's a 5, Excellent!”

Main Street Inn

We agree with many others who have stayed here. It's a 5! Romantic(not really set up for kids). Excellent courtyard, parlor, breakfast, staff, ample parking, linens wonderful. Would go back any time.

Only suggestion. They frequently have weddings here so you might check ahead of time as family groups may take over much of the inn...that can be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences.

“Romantic Anniversary stay”

Main Street Inn

5 of 5 stars
Minneapolis, Minnesota

5/5 found this review helpful

My husband and I travelled to Hilton Head for our Anniversary in May. I read all of the reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect. Driving in to the facility is like driving into a castle. It's very beautiful. When we walked into our room up on the 3rd floor I was pleasantly surprised. This room was the nicest room/Inn I've ever stayed in and the price is so reasonable for this quality. There was no worn carpeting, it was gorgous. I felt like a queen. The bathroom had marble tile. They supplied this wonderful smelling lotion, shampoo and conditioner and the soap was pepperment and Oatmeal. It really perked me up in the morning. There was turn down service in the evening with complementary Chocolate Truffles. There was complementary wine, beer and cookies every early afternoon. The sound of the fountains from the pool was so relaxing. All of the rooms faced the courtyard where the garden and pool was. The pool is more for a dip if you're hot rather than swimming and is a wonderful place to relax near. The sound of the fountains in the pool melt away tension. The garden area smelled like Jasmine. There are a lot of Jasmine plants throughout the garden. It is approximately 6 miles from the hotel to the nearest beach. We actually walked one evening for entertainment. In the spring it was easy to find free and close parking to go to the beach. The staff had good recommendations for local restaurants and they were also extremely kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel in all seasons except summertime when I hear it is impossible to find a place to park if you want to go to the beach. During summer it would be better to stay on the beach, if the beach is one of your destinations. The Sea Pines area would be my choice of where to stay if on the beach. The Main Street Inn was well kept up, beautiful, relaxing, elegant, romantic, and had so many extras it couldn't even compare to what you'd get staying on the beach paying two to three times as much. Wow! How often does a place exceed your expectations? This one did for me.
