“If you like BED BUGS you'll LOVE this place!”

Quality Inn & Suites - Hilton Head Island

We came to town for a wedding and the bride booked this place for us to stay simply because of the location (it was close to the wedding venue site). The first night was fine, but the next day we noticed lots of small bite marks on my husband. As our trip grew on the bites got worse and worse and a pharmacists that we went to see told us that they were bed bug bites and we needed to request a room change. So we did. Our new room did not have any pillows and after several calls to the front desk we finally got some at 8:30 that night! Then the new room (a non-smoking room in a supposed non-smoking hotel) was filled with the smell of cigarette smoke. The smell came in through the vent in the wall in the bathroom and filled the entire room all throughout the night. Even our two-year old smelled it and complained about it! The front desk had no solution or explanation. The tub would also not drain so when you showered you stood in the water from your previous shower!

We also had a run-in one night with some loud local teenagers on spring break who decided to party in the parking lot (which all of the rooms surround). Lots of families were out on the balcony (at 1:00 AM) telling them to shut up. We call the front desk and they send their security guard to our room because he can't talk (he was sick) and he had mu husband (a large guy) stand outside and yell at the kids while the security guy stood beside him! They cussed my husband and complained but eventually left after we called the police. It was crazy how the front desk didn't care at all...their response "well they'll leave in a little while"...it was 1:30 AM!!! We had a sleeping 2-year-old with us! We would never return to the Quality Inn here.

“An Ok Value.”

Quality Inn & Suites - Hilton Head Island

3 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Mar 24, 2008

I stayed here for over a week, while visiting family locally. I paid 63 a night via the hotel website. You can get a cheaper rate via expedia and the alike, but be aware of the fees which can equal more than than the price per night from the direct website. They also charge a $4 a day resort fee. I guess this is for parking, internet, and the pool, I just was't in the mood to contest it. The hotel grounds were clean. The putting green area is very small, but you can rent bikes right from the lobby. This is your typical 3 story 2 star hotel, with doors that access directly outside.

Check in was smooth and took all of 4 minutes. I was upgraded to a suite because I'm a choice priviledge member. The suite has three rooms, a bedroom, living area, and a dressing area with a microwave, fridge, and sink area. The rooms were large and clean, but could use some updating, decor wise. The mattress was a bit springy, but I was able to get a decent night sleep on it. When I initially checked in the bed was missing a mattress pad and blanket, I wasn't aware, but when housekeeping came the next day, she put one on, and this helped alot. Housekeeping was great and cleaned to room well everyday.

The only cons I have is that, I'm a late sleeper. The landscapers and housekeeping were out early in the morning, like 8am. I was awakend almost every morning by either a leaf blower at my door or housekeeping slamming the door going in and out of the rooms next door. This is by far the noisiest hotel I've every stayed at, but if you plan to head out early, this won't be an issue. You will find that people will hang out and smoke or talk on cell phones outside of their rooms. I was annoyed by this a couple of nights, but its not a big deal. The other issue was that if you plan to go to the beaches they aren't in walking distance. This hotel is at the begining of the island as soon as you come across the bridge; however it is close to walmart, bowling, banks, and a few fast food places, all within walking distance.

Overall this hotel presents a great value for singles and families visiting the island on a budget. They offer a free cold breakfast, free wireless internet, and an Applebees onsite. Its a great bargin for families if you upgrade to a suite, bc the children can sleep on the pull out sofa in the living room. I would stay here again, but not for much more than I paid and I would request a room on the third floor to cut back on some of the noise.

Please remember this is a 2 star not 3 or 4 star hotel and it serves it purpose. Don't be afraid to stay here if you know what to expect.

“basic place, par for price”

Quality Inn & Suites - Hilton Head Island

Mar 17, 2008

We stayed in March. Up from Savannah for the night. Priceline for $49. Room was clean, water hot, quiet night. All- non-smoking hotel but I think we were in a former smoking room because there was a slight cigarette/cleaner smell. I noticed it when we first walked in but it wasn't bothersome. Exterior-entry hotel. We didn't use any of the services (pool, cont. brkfst), just slept, showered & gone.

I had no issues, if we stayed under similar circumstances, I'd be ok to go back.

“Very Poor - Noisy”

Quality Inn & Suites - Hilton Head Island

1 of 5 stars
Gold Coast, Australia
Feb 19, 2008

The hotel could represent ok value however there were a few issues.

1) Noise - we were located on the corner of the building nearest to Applebees. Every morning delivery trucks arrive at about 5.30am. Being refridgerated trucks then need to keep there engines running. The dont start unloading until after 6.00am. It was so bad that eventually i had to go and ask the driver to turn his engines off for awhile. The deep engine noises were rumbling through our unit for over an hour. After that the dumpster truck comes and emptied. It is absolutely crazy for this to be allowed to happen, however management (the rude lady at the front desk) couldnt care less.

2) they charge an additional resort fee so that apparently you can use the microwave and putting green. what an absolute rip off. This isnt advertised on their website and they only tell you about it when you check in. After driving for 6 hours to get there and arriving late at night with children it is difficult to argue about paying the extra charge. Again this shouldnt have happened.

3) The breakfast area, is closed off right on time, (or just before it) if you are in the middle of breakfast too bad. The man who was trying to feed his kids, too bad. The ladies working their were so rude. i have never seen anything like this before in a breakfast serving area.

Some of the rooms have noisy heater/aircond units. Some of them you can smell the smokers smell from them even though they were non smoking.

This place could be ok if there were no trucks parking next to units and idling and also for the rude and uncaring staff.
