“Wonderful Discovery!!”

Comfort Inn Ft. Jackson Maingate

My grandson graduated from boot camp at nearby Fort Jackson and we stayed at this hotel. I very much enjoy travelling and I'm a bit snobby about staying at nice places. I was truly pleased with this hotel. It was VERY clean, nicely decorated and the staff were all very helpful and polite.
I had read earlier reviews which had been very complimentary and I booked our rooms. The poor reviews appeared later and I believe there are logical explanations for those poor reviews. One of the reviewers obviously stayed at a different Comfort Inn/Fort Jackson. This hotel is located at a very convenient location with easy access to hiways and is certainly not located near any railroad tracks or junk yard.
This hotel not only provided us with a delightful stay in very clean and well-cared-for rooms, it also included a very nice continental breakfast which was free of charge.
I enjoyed freshly made belgian waffles, fresh fruit, coffee, milk and others in my family enjoyed the muffins, bagels, etc.
I would easily compare this hotels decor with many of the nicer Hampton Inns I've visited. and at a much lower cost. Please don't be dissuaded by any negative reviews seen here. It's an incredibly nice hotel with very reasonable prices. I would not have any reservations at all about staying there again.
PS. If you are going to attend a Fort Jackson graduation, call the hotel directly to make reservations. They gave us the military rate which was very considerate of them and made this hotel even more affordable!

“Very Dirty”

Comfort Inn Ft. Jackson Maingate

Stayed at this hotel June 16, 2006. It seriously was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. I stayed there with my teen sons during their hockey tournament, they are usually not very picky, but even they were grossed out. My oldest wanted to sleep in the car. The carpets were dirty and not vacumned. The windows on all the doors were dirty and covered in fingerprints. The air was not on in the hallways or common areas, making it very unpleasant. There was alot of hair in the bathroom. The hotel is right next to the train tracks and the train runs at night, so forget about getting any sleep. The other side
of hotel overlooks a junkyard. The pool was out of order, but honestly we would not have trusted to go in it anyway. The hotel does have a cont. breakfast, but seeing how dirty everything was we were not interested in eating there.
The only bright spots were there weren't any bedbugs in the room we stayed at and the woman who checked us in was very nice. We moved the next day to the Homewood Suites, these were very nice.

“Watch your charge account after staying here”

Comfort Inn Ft. Jackson Maingate

After our experience with check in, we should have been better prepared for what was to happen in the following days. The manager checked us in and had trouble with checking us into our 3 rooms. He was not professional at all. When he said we had an apartment booked for the next two nights, I told him we would not need it , but would let him know the next day. He was not at the desk when we called to say we would just stay in the rooms we already had, but we told the desk clerk. She also had a hard time accomplishing things on the computer. When my last room arrived the next day (room 4) my daughter went to turn down the bed and there were bugs. She called my room and I told her to use the other bed, it was late and we would change her tomorrow, but that bed had hair all over the sheets. With reservation the front desk clerk finally agreed to change her room. When returning home we found we were not only charged for the rooms we used, also for the rooms we didn't after telling 2 people we would not need them. We were staying in the hotel why would we pay for rooms and not use them????? I contacted the manager but he more or less said we were liars. I am not a person that complains often but this deserves hearing. Good luck to all who stays at this hotel.

The guest seems to be angry and confused and that is why she cannot clarify what she is complaining about. I still do not understand why is she mentioning about an apartment in the middle of all complains and insults.
What I comprehend it relates to the review her sister has given the same day.
The family had booked 3 rooms. They checked-in 2 rooms and asked the Front desk at check-in NOT to CANCEL the other room.
The hotel maintains very high occupancy. The room was held and not sold for the reason that it was held by the guest on their credit card.
Next day the guest was made aware of the no show. They wanted to refund which was not done as per the hotel policy. That's the only reason which led to baseless complains and anger.
Please try to understand , we kept our integrity of not selling the room. We could have sold the rooms for a higher as we had atleast 30 walkins we turned down that day.
The hotel staff furnished all guests request during their stay and that is why they did not check out of the hotel early but stayed till their scheduled check-out.
Thanks
Praveen

“I agree, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!”

Comfort Inn Ft. Jackson Maingate

In May 2006, I stayed at the Comfort Inn Ft. Jackson Maingate on Garner's Ferry Rd. This was the worst hotel experience ever. We were charged for a room that was cancelled a day before the cancellation date and time! After we noticed the charge we called the hotel to have the charges reversed and we were told by the GM that because his front desk employee couldn't "remember" us cancelling the room there was nothing he could do. Also, my sister checked into her room to find bugs in her bed and hair on the bathroom floor. My family of 10 and I were there to see my brother graduate from basic training in the Army. This trip was already an emotional rollercoaster and our experience at this hotel only made the situation worse. I was a manager at Holiday Inn Express for five years and NEVER in my five years of working there did I see this kind of treatment to it's guest's!!!

The guest seemed to be upset only for the reason that cancellation which she claims was not done at the hotel. The same family has posted to neg. comments.
The hotel runs high occupancy. The rates are higher than other hotels on the exit, but we pride ourselves in providing the best services in terms aminities, cleanliness and staff performance.
The guest had a gauranteed reservation WHICH WAS NOT CANCELLED and keeping our integrety we did hold the room till the next morning. The guest was made aware. Nothing was hidden the room rate, room type and the charges.
But we stick to our policy and procedures if we are not in the wrong.
Since the refund was not done, it led to other baseless complains . I know our product , my staff and our integrity towards our guest and I am proud of it.
Thanks

“Terrible experience”

By far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. After checking into the hotel and finding out we had booked a room wrong and telling them we didn't need a suite. They still charged us for the room when we had told them twice that we didn't need the room. Then since my husband is in basic training at Ft. Jackson I called down stairs to get some towels sent up and they told me that I would have to come down there and get them because there was only one girl at the desk, thank God that my sister-in-law was willing to come and bring them to me because I had children in the bathtub and couldn't leave the room. They were extremly rude when we asked if we could eat pizza in the breakfast area one night while we were there. I will NEVER suggest or stay in a Comfort Inn again!!!

my apologies for any convenience during your stay. However there are few clarifications I would like to make.
1.This is a limited service hotel. We have one person working at the deskin the evenings, who is instructed not to leave the desk. We have the supplies at the front desk and that is why we ask the guest to please come down for any extra supplies.
2. We do not allow guests to eat in the breakfast area after 9.00 pm. Two reasons (a) Next morning we have breakfast at 6.30 am and we want to keep the area clean. (b) There is a guest room very close the brakfast area and the guests in that room get disturbed especially in the night
Thanks
