great breakfast

Our family went to this establishment, after reading nothing but good things about this restaurant. Everything was dead on. The chocolate cake at this place, is the best I've ever had! We ordered a slice of the cake after seeing it being brought to another table. We had no idea how much it was, figured it was going to be about 8-10 dollars because it is probably about 1/4 of a whole cake. I think it ended up being $4.25. We actually ate at another restaurant on our second night in town, and went back to the Hershey Pantry to get take out of yes, another slice of cake, wich was enough for myself, wife, and 2 kids, no joke!

Great breakfast place with lots of fresh interesting choices. And, don't forget the gigantic cinnamin rolls!

I love to travel, and with my job i do alot of it. I have been all over the States and eaten at thousands of restaurants across this country. I have been coming to Hershey on business for the past 4 months. I have stayed in Hershey for over 45 days during that time. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn off Chocolate Ave. The staff there is wonderful. Always take great care of me.

I have been to the Hershey Pantry twice before, the service staff is pleasant and attentive. The food is usually ok and this restaurant is so convenient to the hotel. However, on my last visit, things did not go well. I had work to do in my room, so I decided just to order something to go from the Hershey Pantry.
I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, simple huh, so I went to pick it up after a fews minutes.

I was greeted by a very nice server and she then got my bill and I paid for my meal which included at tip for the server who rang up my food and left. When i got to my hotel and opened up my order, i noticed that one of the two meatballs was different. One was ok and the other seemed to be old or placed in a microwave for a very long time and dried out. It was hard as a rock(slight exaggeration) but hard none the less.

So I could of done what most people do with to go orders and just say oh well. I thought about it, then said no way. I am taking it back. When i got back to the restaurant the server greeted me and asked if there was a problem with my dinner and i showed her what the chef/general manager (i think) had served me from her kitchen. She aggreed and took it back to show the chef. I explained to the server that i didnt want anything else and if she would just credit my card that would be fine. She tried, but the GM said no refund, and the server then offered me a free dessert for my troubles. I said no thank you, and then the server tried to give me a refund out her own monies. I told her that I was not going to take her own money. She assured me that the manager would give it back to her at closing. Crazy?? Well, throughout this whole ordeal, the Manager/Chef would not come out to speak to me. She was letting her extremely nice server who did not cook the food handle this situation.

I then asked the server to see if the GM/Chef would come out to assure me that the money was not going to be taken out of the servers money. She finally came out and said that she would return the money to the server at closing. Thats it, nothing else. She was very rude, she was unapolgetic, basically had a "whatever" attitude. If she needed to be rude it should of been to the person who prepared my dinner. I can only assume that she as a general manager and chef of that restaurant would be embarrassed to let anything like that out of her kitchen. I may be mistaken. It may be the norm. Anyway, thanks Chef, you really now how to treat your guest. You need to thank your service staff, because they are the only thing that was excellent during my short visit to your restaurant.
