Business serviceI booked a night at this property before a flight out of the Pittsburgh airport the next morning. Approximately 25 minutes before check-in I arrived and inquired as to whether they had early check in. The employee at the front desk smiled when she spoke to me, but the underlying irritation was evident when she pointed out that housekeeping was just now "entering the rooms" and pointed out all of the people waiting in the lobby who were "ahead of me" (this she did in a very loud and public manner).
I am a Hilton Diamond member and I expect to be treated in the same manner as I treat others. I did not raise my voice to the employee or demand a room. I simply asked if they offered early check in. A "no" or "not today" in a professional tone would have sufficed.
I had noticed a Doubletree right next door when I was driving in (wondering why I didn't know to book a room there). I ran over to the Doubletree, booked a very reasonably priced room and was given early check- in with a smile. The Doubletree staff couldn't have been more welcoming or professional.
When I returned to the Hampton to ensure that they had recieved my cancellation, I was completely ignored by the first employee who had "spoken" to me earlier. Finally another employee broke off his personal conversation with other indivdiuals after several minutes, and walked back behind the desk to help me. He ensured me that they had recieved the cancellation and summarily dismissed me, not even inquiring as to what the problem had been.
Based on the behavior of its front desk staff, this property should be embarassed to call itself a Hilton.
Location
Check in / front deskDue to some travel problems (snowstorm) I had to stay in Pittsburgh for another night. Since my experience with Hampton Inn in general is really great, I chose this facility. But when I arrived, it was a pure disappointment. The guy at the reception was neither friendly nor properly dressed (shirt outside the pants, perspiration spots on his shirt, chewing gum in his mouth). The room he gave me was, despite my preferences in my Hilton Honors profile, directly beside the elavator. The room itself was very tiny. However, it was clean and well furnished. The WiFi did not work at all, since the network availability was very low. The only great thing about that stay, I can report, was the Hampton Bed I slept in. Breakfst was not available at 5:30 yet, although for a hotel close to the airport I would have expected that. And another disappointing fact: I never got any feedback to my complaint I left at the feedback questionaire they provide their customers with.

Business serviceStayed here recently for two nights on business. Decent location, not too far from the airport. Price seemed like good value for the money. The room was comfortable. I thought the air-conditioning was inconsistent…I like my room cold (even in the fall), you could get the temperature down, but it would only hold in 15 minute spurts. The staff was good, the room was clean. Decent, though small, workout room. Ok, Hampton Inn coffee and breakfast. I was on the ground floor and thought that the corridors were loud…my neighbor seemed to slam their door a lot, but I don’t think I can blame the hotel for that. I don’t think there are a lot of good restaurant opportunities nearby…at least I didn’t see any, the usual combo of fast-food and chain grills. I would stay again if I were going to Pittsburgh on business.

Business serviceThis Hampton Inn was quite good with its nicely renovated rooms. There are lots of other hotel options nearby but for the price I would stay here again. There is a Doubletree next door and a Holiday Inn down the road.
Pizza Hut is across the street as is Bob Evans.
