This was a problem from the start. I called the Holiday Inn Reservations line and asked for this hotel to be booked at the special Cleveland Clinic Rate. The 800 number agent could not find the rate. She told me to call the hotel directly. The hotel agent told me to call the 800 number as the hotel could not make any reservations directly. After 6 more calls to the 800 number I finally found an agent that found the rate. I arrived at the hotel and the front desk clerk was talking to a gentleman who was apparently not a guest. I started to walk up to the counter and this gentleman told me to wait a minute very rudely. He and the front desk clerk were having a "personal" disagreement. I was placed on the 18th floor. The elevators were dirty, the carpet well worn. The only people friendly on this trip were the housekeepers. They told me they have a computer free for guests use when I called. It was broken. TV remote was dead. I tried to call the front desk several times and the phone went unanswered. The only plus of this stay was the nice view of Burke Lakefront Airport and the Lake. This used to be a nice hotel. It is currently under renovation

“Busy and NOT Enough Staff - Pool Room under construction”

Wow, this was our 2nd stay at this hotel. We booked 2 nights through Hotwire and paid $69 per night. We were going up to a Cleveland Indians game and to visit the zoo.
We stayed last year at the hotel at about the same time and was not very impressed at that time, but it wasn't too terribly bad. Room service was good, but when we went last year, we couldn't catch a shuttle to Quickens Loan Arena for our concert and missed one of the opening acts bc we walked. The room we had last year was adequate, we only stayed one night and it was just my husband and myself. The best part was the sandwiches we ordered through room service.
This year, we took our children and the room was a mess. I found candy wrappers on the floor. We also found an old flip flop under the bed. The tile was cracked in places in the bathroom and the overall appearance of the room was just ok. We luckily were able to catch the shuttle on time this year, but when calling for guest services, I never got an answer. I called a 2nd time shortly there after and the phone rang at least 20 times before someone picked up. They were very abrupt. When ate dinner at the hotel restaurant au grille. The food was good, but the restaurant was freezing cold. When I complained - my son was actually using the table candle as a fire to keep warm - the waitress just said it is a little chilly as did the supervisor when I checked out. We originally went to the bar who did not want to serve us. They informed us that the restaurant would offer children eating free and we should just wait 20 mins for it to open. He did not want to take our orders. While the information was helpful, we were concerned with eating and having enough time to catch a shuttle before the game. Then when we went to check out they charged us for the kids food anyway, I had to go back and asked them to remove them. I used my debit card, so the supervisor canceled the transaction, which as you know if you have a debit card user, does not remove it from your account immediately. I asked for cash since it was their mistake, he refused. Then he recharged my card only removing one child!! I pointed this out, and he got flustered. The visa machine receipt roll was stuck and they let people stand waiting to be seated while they worked on fixing it for 10-15 mins. Meanwhile, I am standing there. Finally he agreed to just give me the cash back for the difference, but I personally feel he should have done that in the first place since it was their mistake.
Also, you could still swim, but the pool room was under construction and hearing the jackhammer was unnerving at times.
While I felt we were given a deal through Hotwire, unless I am going to a Browns game (the stadium is definitely within walking distance) and plan on tailgating and won't care about the room, I don't think we will be staying here again.

“Down and dirty”

We became skeptical of the hotel as soon as we left the elevator and walked down the hall toward our room. There were stains on the carpet and it in general appeared upkept (small pieces of paper on the floor, etc.). Then, the room smelled a little funny. We pulled back the bedspread to find a brown stain on the sheet-- believe me it was repulsive and not to be missed. It was dead center just below where the pillow rested. We requested another room. The next room had a very strong dank odor. There was good reason. The wall paper wall peeled away from the wall both next to the bed and in the bathroom. Water damage was obvious on the ceiling above and behind the wall paper. The next room was habitable but our preference would have been to check out immediately. The NBA finals were in town and our money was already commited through priceline. So much for the quality quarantee-- they showed it as 3 stars. The hotel is in transition between owners and will have a massive (and much needed) renovation. but in no way meets the 3 star rating it is currently given.

“No Problems at all here”

We had a great stay @ the Lakeshore. No problems with the room at all. The Lounge and Resturant had great service and food although they seemed a bit understaffed and overwhelmed by the post Browns game crowd. The Location cannot be beat for Cleveland Browns Stadium & the R&R Hall Of Fame. The $16.00 per day parking may seem a bit much at first..till you find out other places in town are charging $20.00 per day.
