“A little piece of heaven in Mission beach.”

Licuala Lodge

May 11, 2008

I cant reccomend this place enough. Myself and my new wife were on honeymoon travelling from Cairns to Brisbane and stopped in mission beach for 3 days. This place is a little paradise to chill and relax. The gardens are fantastically kept by Mick. The pool is fantastic too. Its hidden away in a corner of the gardens and when your swimming in it, it feels like your swimming in a freshwater pool in the middle of a tropical forest. I suppose you are in a way though ha ha. The local wildlife is great. One of the most endangered Birds in the world (a cassowary) comes snooping around the grounds every day. The price of the accomodation includes free beer too which is great. Mick and Sue are very friendly also and even had a drink with us in one of the local bars one night. All in all, i highly reccomend this place. Thanks Mick and Sue for a great stay. P.S: The full monty brekkie is great and if you finish it you get your name on there website. I'm up there hee hee.

“Beautiful and Quiet Getaway”

My wife and I stayed for two nights in late April of 2008. We found the experience thoroughly relaxing and refreshing. The grounds are exceptionally landscaped, the room handsome, clean and functional. Sue and Mick were thoughtful and kind. Our brekky was not as outstanding as reported by other guests, but thas was not a major issue for us. It may have been because Mick was mostly sidelined with a bad back while we were there.

Two nice extras: We did a laundry for a modest fee, and--this was great--encountered a cassowary at their place! It is a large and regal creature. Seeing it up close was a thrill.

We paid $120 per night for our room with a balcony (including breakfast and taxes). It was a true value.

    • Liked — Beauty, tranquility and comfort of the place
    • Disliked — Not much--breakfast not as good as expected, possibly due to an atypical circumstance.

“great xmas lunch with host and family”

Licuala Lodge

Mar 21, 2008

we stayed with Mike and Sue over xmas 2007, we were greeted with cups of tea and cakes and were thouroughly looked after for the coming week. Great cooked breakfast for all the family , and great entertainment in the evenings with lots of card and board games. (watch out for sues idea of a good win at cards)A great way to spend xmas, with it being hot and the hosts did us all a lovely xmas supper. Rooms all clean and tidy, with fresh towels everyday, nice and peacefull with a lovely pool to cool down at the end of a day.
Will reccommend to friends back in England

“Great!”

Licuala Lodge

Dec 9, 2007

Having read other Trip Advisor reviews we decided to go to Mission Beach for our 15th wedding anniversary weekend. Living in Cairns, Mission Beach is only a 2 hour drive south. We definately have found the best place to stay at Mission Beach. Mick and Sue are wonderful hosts - the rooms are clean and airy, the breakfast fantastic and the jungle pool brilliant - not to mention the cassowarys that come to visit and the beautiful gardens. We will be returning soon.
