“Great Location for the price”

Comfort Inn Long Island City

Great location. Subway is only down the street. Our room was very clean and updated - on the small side but what room isn't in NYC. Train ride into Manhattan was about 20-25 minutes and we could see the City from outside our window. We did also get to see the scrap metal yard (you can't have everything). Parking for our car was essential. Though we could have parked on the street if we were lucky to find a spot, there was a parking garage around the corner which worked out fine. I would definitely stay here again.

“great deal!”

Comfort Inn Long Island City

A friend of mine got the Comfort Inn LIC via Priceline, but later made a better deal on a Hotel in the City. Even I am from NYC I stayed there for 3 nights since I went to a couple or Partys in Astoria and didn't wanna take the long trip home late at night.

Anyway: You won't find a better deal in NYC!!!
We payed $60 for a Night.
It's a 1 Min walk to the Subway, a "THREE" Minutes ride to Midtown. Breakfast I never attended but I think it's nice that they actually serve breakfast.
The room was small but since I was alone no problem at all.
Everythng very, very clean. Very nice stuff.
Yes, the area is not that nice but c'mon: that's charming Queens!
You don't have to be scared by a homeless guy asking for money at the subway station or graffittis on the buildings. Bottomline is that it's safe!

The thing is that if you wanna stay in Manhattan you will have to pay the same money for a Hostel with shared bathroom and bedbugs inclusive ;)
It's a great alternative for somebody who wants some comfort but doesn't care about the area so much. (which is.. how I said.. not a problem since It's just 5 Min to Midtown;)

“Supplement to Below”

Comfort Inn Long Island City

Just a supplement to the below review, I lost my receipt to parking garage and called for a replacement receipt. In a nutshell they said the city parking garage has closed and it will be torn down.

Just an FYI but the next closet parking garage seems to be underneath some tracks. When I saw the parking, I immediately drove away since it was outside and look like a haven for break-ins. This area is a mess. You will see when you see the Comfort Inn sign.

I would think twice about this place now. 1.5 stars max. Due to area and room size. It is clean, but then again, the room it so small it's one swipe with the vacuum.

Management Response
Comfort Inn LIC Management, Manager
(Management representative)
Jun 19, 2008
The City has decided to close the Public Parking as it is a part of the Queens Plaza Expansion and Beautification Project.

Long Island City has very convenient subway access to Manhattan. There are obviously Railway tracks and that doesnot make any parking garages unsafe. They are professionaly managed and we have yet to see a single car break-in inside the parking lot.

We take pride in being the cleanest hotel in Long Island City and we urge you to stay in Manhattan at a comparable hotel to realize how clean and accommodating our rooms are.

At Comfort Inn - LIC We appreciate your business.

“better than expected”

I arrived late at the hotel, checking in takes a minute. Then I went upstairs to my room, to my surprise, the room is not so small (considering how cheap the rate is), the bathroom looks really clean (looks like it just got remodeled), and closet space is good enough.

I called the front desk to ask if I could find something to eat really close to the hotel (it was after midnight). The front desk person suggested a deli close by and they deliver. So I got sandwich from the deli, and it was good. And it came really quick too.

In the morning, I went to 2nd floor to get breakfast. They have pretty good selection for the complimentary breakfast. It was nice.
Front desk people are really helpful (I ask a lot for directions), location is great (walking distance to subway stations), housekeeping are also friendly.

I stayed for 3 nights, and everyday they clean my room and give new towels.

On my last day, the front desk offered to get me a cab to go to the airport. The cab service is also great.

Overall, I would stay here again. I have no complain.

“Clean and Comfortable and Cheap!”

Comfort Inn Long Island City

3 of 5 stars
Loughborough, United Kingdom
Dec 21, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Long Island City based on reviews on this website - plus we were after a hotel that would cost under £100 a day for New York at Christmas time!

We booked back in August as we were worried we may not get in - needless to say the money was taken from our account the next day!

The hotel IS in a grotty area - but saying that you are only sleeping there and not really walking around to be honest.

There are TWO subway stations nearby - The N Broadway Espress (yellow line - also the number 7 stops there) which is literally around the corner - get yourself a Metro card - even if you are there for 4-5 days I would say get the $24 7-day card - as we used 2 x $20 each for our 5 days stay! The other subway is the blue line (E etc) which is about 2.5 blocks away which is handy for getting to the southern parts of Manhattan without changing trains. Its on the way to the subway station that you pass the Subway sandwich place if you are peckish.

Ok - the hotel - we arrived very late on a friday - and we got the smallest room on the floor (from the floor plan on the back of the door!) - right on the corner facing the junk yard - nice! I mean small - once in the room - its just bed..desk..tiny free standing wardrobe and massive TV unit..if like us you live out of your suitcase a bit - you struggled for floor space..but heh hoh didnt bother us too much! The wardrobe is tiny though! Long skirts/trousers get crinkled because the safe is in the bottom of the wardrobe.

We had a coffee machine and phone and TV - but the HBO channel didnt work - but we were rarely in the room long enough to watch it!

The bathroom was small but practical - a nice hot shower - but tiny shallow bath. A wall mounted hairdryer - not brilliant if you have long hair!

The room was VERY clean and the bed was comfy and large - fresh towels EVERY day too...

Despite the cold weather the room was warm too.

The decor is ok - some mould around the bath seal - but without my specs on it didn't bother me lol!

Ice and vending machines on every other floor.

The breakfast on floor 2 was standard American continental - muffins, pastries, cold boiled eggs, cereal, coffee and juice and fruit..only 4 small tables though so it was often packed down there. Also a toaster and some cheeky bleeder stole our toast when it popped up! Being polite English we didnt say anything!

Our main gripe wasn't so much the hotel but other guests - sadly our stay coincided with a large group of fellow tourists - who took over most of the hotel it seemed and were UNBELIEVABLY noisy :(. Some were staying next to us (we were next to the corner room - 704) - and they slammed their damned door every 10 minutes or so - people came and went more common than subway trains! Banging the door and slamming till 5am one night! We made complaints but it made no difference sadly - and when you have been out walking all day in NY for over 12 hours and you are knackered that was the last thing you wanted - so quite door shutting mechanisms would have been welcomed!!

If you want - clean, cheap and comfy - go for this hotel - it IS a pain sometimes to get into NY during rush hour - takes a good 20 or so minutes and we even got turned down by a cab to take us back to our hotel one night as it was too far! But we ended using the subway all the time - even at night - we never felt 'at risk'.

The staff were always very accomodating to us - and didnt charge us to hold our bags unlike other guests.

A more perfect stay if we had a bigger room and less rude hotel guests!
