“Do not keep them in Business”

This place should be shut down. It is terrible to admit that this is the closest off-campus hotel to Cornell. The staff is very impersonal, rude, unhelpful, and greedy. Be careful if you cancel a reservation, they will still charge you and give you the hardest time when you try to seek reimbursement (even if you canceled your room 2 weeks before arrival). If you are looking for a clean accomodation with furniture that your comfortable with sitting on/sleeping in, this is not the place. Look elsewhere!

“Never stay”

I was planning to stay over a mounth but only one nigth I stayed and just escaped. Rooms were dirty, old, small etc. Bathroom was very very small and terrible. It says free international breakfast in the newspaper and web but there were a cup of tea or coffe and a cake. There was no internet connection at all. Anyone can find a better place in the city even at the less rates. This can not be a hotel or pension.

“THIS PLACE SUCKS”

Whatever you do, DO NOT STAY HERE.... No complimentary anything, night manager creeped the hell out of me, and the place is pretty much a dump. I would much rather camp out on the quad on campus during a blizzard.

“Poor Quality + Poor Customer Service!”

This room was set up for me through Cornell, but it seemed like a decent deal at the time.

*When I first arrived, I was shocked to find the price much higher than what Cornell was quoted. Since Im a student - this hurt in the pocketbook but I chalked it up to miscommunication and no big deal.

* Once I get everything set, I couldnt for the life of me get my key to work! Instead of helping me etc I was told I needed to be more patient and "learn the trick". After attempting another few minutes I had to get a very annoyed staff member to help me while again being berated for not being 'patient' enough with the door.

* There were two outlets in the room. ONE PLUG worked in the whole room - had to unplug the TV to use my hair dryer, and then the cord kept falling out of the wall.

* DONT BELIEVE THEM ABOUT BREAKFAST!! Their "continental breakfast" = cookies on a tray in the morning.

* I had to hunt down someone when I was ready to check out. I would have just left the kew but I didnt trust these guys at all and didnt want to see extra charges pop up on my cc.

“Terrific place”

The Hillside Inn is a wonderful and convenient place to stay. If you are looking for four stars, go elsewhere, but if you want a super-friendly staff, VERY convenient location to Cornell and a nice all-around experience, stay here. It's family owned and operated and if that's what you like, you'll love it. If you like the chains - go elsewhere.

The Hillside is a fun place - you can get to know the staff and they can direct you to find anything and everything in the Ithaca area. I HIGHLY recommend the Hillside to people who aren't afraid of actually talking to people.

It is clean, contrary to what another reviewer said. Our room was VERY clean.
