Holiday Inn Cooperstown was recommended by a Cooperstown resident as a good, clean place to stay for an overnight stop. She was right ! The staff was attentive, the room was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was excellent. When we continued our trip, we ate breakfast out and later remarked that having a nice continental breakfast was a big saving and got us on the road that much quicker. The ladies/staff that put the breakfast together were so nice. They took the time to visit with those patrons who wanted to chat, but did not interrupt if it seemed you wanted to be left alone. We got some tips on the local scene and driving directions.

We walked to the nearby grocery store to get things we forgot. There were a few stores within walking distance and a fast food place. There were a lot of families staying here and they all seemed quite happy and were having fun. It is a few miles from Cooperstown so you cannot walk to the hall of fame, but we were happy to drive the few miles to town and thought the location might be quieter than an in-town motel anyway.

“Holiday Inn Express: Value for the money”

With a government discount applied, the price for two Queen beds in a nice, clean and comfortable room came to $70 per night. Friendly staff, fairly convenient location to all attractions in Cooperstown proper (about a five minute drive to HOF) made staying here quite worthwhile.

We had a chance to check out the exterior of some of the lodging in and around Cooperstown, and maybe it's because it is not "high season" yet (this is April), but some of the properties--especially lakeside, are showing their age. Not their "character", but their age ;-(

Note to families coming to Cooperstown this time of year: Lots of attractions are NOT yet opened, so aside from the HOF and some good eating places (TJ's, Danny's), there is NOT that much to do in this neck of the woods.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Friendly staff, cleanliness, fair rates
    • Disliked — A little noisy if you book a room around back, near the pool equipment housing

I checked the prior reiews on tripadvisor.com and was happy I did. An excellent hotel if you are visiting Cooperstown. Very nice and attententive staff. Clean and well-decorated rooms. Our king had a sleeper sofa as well. Plenty of cable stations, large fluffy towels (unusual) and a comfortable bed. Breakfast buffet that will please is free as well. Finally, they had two computers on hand to surf the net. Highly recommended.

“Nice Clean Place”

The place was very nice and clean. The beds weren't the most comfiest, I had a spring kinda poke might stay there again if we ever went back. Although the breakfast was just plain boring. My brother stayed across the street at the Best Western and loved it, they had fresh waffles!!!!!!!

The staff was great! I called to ask for reco's on somewhere to stop for dinner, but everything was closed on 11/22. So, when we got there, the guy at the front desk gave us snacks and water bottles, which we thought was super nice of him! :)

“Great location, price and the Jr. Suite was great!”

Holiday Inn Express Cooperstown

The Holiday Inn Express was a great family hotel with decent rates. We stayed here Nov. 8-10, 2007 and had a Jr. Suite. With two teenage sons, the suite turned out to be a good size. It was also nice to have a couch and three chairs in which to sit rather than just having a couple beds. It was very clean and quiet.

The continental breakfast was good and there were some choices between sweets, cereals, hard boiled eggs, toast, fruit and yogurt. The room the breakfast was in was all glass on one side and had a large fireplace with seating. It was a nice way to start the day. There was an indoor pool on the lower level which my husband and kids enjoyed.

I only had two minor issues with the hotel. First, the shower curtain rod was pulling away from the walls so the shower curtain wouldn't stay shut on either end. The other was that there was a strong chlorine smell in the hallways from the pool, even on the second floor (although it could not be smelled while in the room). All in all I would definately stay if we decide to return to Cooperstown in the future.
