“Horrible Customer Service and lazy maid service”

Binghamton Regency Hotel & Conference Center

May 10, 2007

We stayed here for a conference that was 5 days long. At first it was okay. We got a refridgerator in our room and internet access is really good. The first morning the maid service came in while we were there which was fine. The maid kept asking us questions about what we wanted done. This happened each day. To my understanding you should clean the room as the hotel advises and if the customer wants other things done they will tell you. The garbage wasn't removed on one of the days and the bed wasn't made on another.
We ate in the Maro's restaurant and sat for over an hour waiting for our meal to come out. We had to leave without eating and explained that we had sat there for so long. No apology from the restaurant staff- we got our food to go and the orders were wrong upon opening them later. Long story short it was overpriced food that we never got to eat because their service was terrible. We would have been happy with a simple " we are sorry " but that didn't happen.
We were told there was continental breakfast. The first morning it was really nice- we had a ticket to go to Maro's and get choice of coffee, juice, muffing/toast and yogurt. The next morning we went down to get our tickets and the response from the front desk was "there are too many people here so we put out the continental service in the lobby" I got there to find hardly any coffee and mini muffins and juice. All of which were almost gone at 8am. No one was manning the table to make sure there was enough.
I was just really disappointed at the customer service. They seemed snooty and not very polite. Not caring that the customer was dissatisfied. I was one of at least 25 people that had similar experiences. It would be good if they worked on customer service.
The rooms were also very outdated and a little skeevy.

“Not bad for the price”

We found the hotel to be clean and fairly well cared-for. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were thick. The TV was fine, and we had no need for Internet service. The staff was competent.

Our room was decorated in classic 1980s hues of powder and steel blue with subtle peach and mauve accents. There are huge blue flowers on the drapes. Translation: this isn't the hippest hotel around, but this is Binghamton, not a big city. Nonetheless, for the price it does fine, and the location is excellent right downtown.

Unfortunately, we were there for New Year's Eve and the party in other rooms kept spilling out into the hallway until 3 AM. I heard someone in the hallway repeatedly quieting them down and sending them back into their rooms, and it seems the management cares. I imagine when the hotel is filled with mostly businesspeople and tourists such noise would not exist.

It's not posh or trendy but it's adequate, clean and comfortable, and it's in walking distance of most everything in downtown Binghamton.

Arrived at this Best Western after eight hour flight from Ireland and over two hours driving planned to stay there for one night on way to Niagara Falls with my family. Big mistake one of the reasons I chose this place was it's location between and New York and Niagara Falls and becase of its advertised two swimming pools (knew my sons would love a swim to relax them after all the traveling). When we arrived I was told with no word of apology or no word of explanation until pressed that there was a problem with the pool that happened a month before now I know we give out about getting work done by the building trade but America must have a cronic problem if they have to wait for over a month to get something seen to. I think it was more the front desk bored dismissive attude that annoyed me than the pool being closed. I'm sorry to say when we reached our room it didn't get any better - a tatty dusty place - not great start to holiday but we stayed in some lovely places for the rest of our two week holiday.
Needless to say on our way back to New York we raced passed Binghamton and decided we woudn't be visiting again the funny thing is the only other bad experience we had during our stay was at another Best Western Motel so will be giving Best Western a miss on our next holiday to America

“Very Good Experience”

I have stayed at the Best Western Regency several times and have always been pleased. This is probably the most consistently satisfactory hotel in theTriple Cities area. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The people at the Front Desk were very helpful and PLEASANT. When I was having trouble with my key-card someone from the Front Desk (without being asked) came up to make sure that it worked. When I called for Housekeeping, it seemed as if they arrived before I was able to put down the phone. Service at the Restaurant and Lounge Maros was very good. The only criticism I can offer is that in some of the rooms the carpets and furniture need to be replaced. This is not the Four Seasons but for the price and value no other hotel is better.
