Made reservations over the phone with Sugar Loaf, asking for two nights. Sent email to their website address confirming arrival and departure dates. Upon arrival, owner denied having made two-night reservation, denied receiving two email confirmations from me and insisted that he only does three-day minimum stays. I suspect since it was a popular weekend, he decided to hold out for a customer who would stay Fri, Sat and Sunday nights. I had made my reservations three weeks in advance, so maybe he didn't realize it was a popular weekend due to the car races in Virginia City. He just wanted more money and therefore denied our reservations. I spoke both with the owner and his wife when I made the original reservations and find it impossible that he did not have a clear understanding. We were forced to drive back into Carson City to find other accommodations. I also believe he took advantage that we were two women standing in front of him. Had there been a man, I doubt he would have refused us. So, don't count on having your room even if you have taken all measures to confirm your arrival/departure dates. We were totally ripped off.

My husband and I stayed at the sugarloaf motel and the people there were so nice and the view was nice and the rooms were always clean and the employees took care of us while we were there visiting my Grandparents

There aren't many places to lodge in V.C. but this one is clean, well-maintained, and reasonable in price. Not fancy. Congenial staff.
It is a short walk downhill to the main part of town. Well-stocked store on premises. Gravel parking lot, but plenty of street parking.
