“Not Bad!!”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

I read many reviews about Fitzegeralds that made it sound rather unpleasant... we were not being terribly particular, as we just needed a decent place to crash while enjoying a long weekend in Reno. I booked online through hotels.com and got really good rates- like $68 a night through the weekend! Anyway, I was very pleased with the room; it was clean, spacious, had nice decor and was reasonably quiet for being above the strip. The elevators are slow, but not as bad as some people have described them. We found that many of the other hotel guests were pretty friendly and we visited while waiting anyway. We did get impatient one time and decided to take the stairs up to our 16th floor room from the ground floor (the stairs are diamond plated steel, loooooong and kind of scary so if you are easily winded, naturally clumsy or have had a few drinks, I don't recommend taking them) and were very tired once we reached our floor. I actually stopped twice to 'rest'. We took the stairs down a lot and that was fine. The staff at the front desk were very nice; they printed our boarding passes for the flight home for us without charge and were helpful. Limerick's was a great place for happy hour drinks and appetizers and Molly's Garden had good burgers. We ate at the buffet a few times and thought that was pretty decent also. If we ever go to Reno again, we would stay there again- the only down side was that the hotel lacks an airport shuttle and that the gambling is not as loose as what they advertise. All in all, a pretty good place for the low rates.

“Good value hotel in the heart of the city”

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice. On the downside, the hotel is in need of a facelift. The furnishings and decor do show their age. However, there are many positive aspects to the hotel as well. The rooms are large and have always been well cleaned. The price is right and the location is great if you want to walk to all of the other casinos in downtown Reno. We have always had a good time when we have stayed here. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want luxury, I would recommend another hotel. However, if you are just looking for a clean, comfortable, and inexpensive room, the Fitz is always a good bet.

“Room was nice but boy is the casino empty!”

I stayed at Fitzgerald's for one night in the middle of February. I was able to book a mini suite for $72. The room was clean with a nice view but man has the casino changed! I have stayed at Fitzgerald's numerous times over the last few years and have always enjoyed the slot selection. They have new owners and I swear that there is less than half the machines that were there a year ago and at midnight, there was NO ONE in the casino. I was sent an invitation for a free dinner at Limerick's and after waiting for 5 minutes to be greeted and seated with no wait staff acknowledging we existed, we decided we would rather go somewhere else and pay for dinner. I will try them again in 6 months as the new owners have only been in charge for 3 months. If these problems are still there then, I will find a new Reno hotel to stay at.

“Good time at the Fitz”

After reading some bad reviews lately at the Fitz, we were a little worried about staying there Feb. 4-5-6. They sent a van to pick us up at the airport(which is a new perk) and we had a good time there. We had no problem with heat or water and had a couple great meals at Limericks. Everyone was very helpfull but there wasnt a lot of people there. They are starting to do new elevators and improve the rooms beginning at the top. Hopefully, a new and improved Fitz will be there soon. We had fun. Suzie Slots

“No fun to be found at the Fitz anymore”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

I have stayed often at the Fitz (the free and/or discounted room offers come often with relatively little play required), but I think my most recent visit will be my last. The rooms are clean, but they're dull and outdated -- especially the tiny TVs that only get about six channels and the terrible shower pressure. The casino dealers are as friendly as ever, but the rules are definitely in the house's favor. The slots are much tighter than they were in the past. The food hasn't changed -- it's still as lousy as it's ever been. The Lucky Forest gimmicks and trinkets are gone. Bottom line: The Fitz is no fun anymore (which might explain why the casino seemed like a ghost town even on a holiday weekend).
