First the downside: location. This property is a 15-minute drive on the highway from downtown Reno. If you are coming to town to gamble a the downtown casinos (Harrah's, Silver Legacy, El Dorado, Circus Circus, etc.), you may want to choose another location that's more convenient. The nearer casinos are Peppermill and Atlantis, but even those are a 10-minute drive up highway 395. This Hampton is in the South Meadows area of Reno, which seems to be mostly newer housing and shopping developments. Hotel is located in a business park that is very quiet evenings and weekends. There is a small scale construction project going on next door. Property backs to a major highway and traffic is audible inside your room, so if that bothers you note that the odd numbered rooms are on the highway side. Ask for an even numbered room if you want to avoid highway noise.
The upside: this is a relatively new Hampton Inn so the hotel is in very good condition. Smallish rooms for a brand new Hampton in the suburbs, but it has all the standard Hampton stuff: free breakfast; free internet terminal in the business center (in constant use by kids staying in the hotel, which is normal for Hampton unfortunately). If you're a regular Hampton Inn customer, you'll find no surprises here.
