We stayed at the Eldorado 4/28-4/30, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Having been to Reno several times over the years, I have gambled and dined at the Eldorado before but had never stayed there. I have always stayed at the Reno Hilton/Grand Sierra, and have always been pleased. I must say, however, I think the Eldorado has won me over permanently.
We were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy from start to finish. The front desk staff, the bar staff in Brew Brothers (try the Redhead Amber Ale), the dealers, everyone. I have to give special mention to Jany, the casino host. She went above and beyond for us during our visit, and made us feel like the Eldorado was truly happy to have us as guests.
Most of the casinos in Nevada are corporate-owned and have a very impersonal feel to them unless you are a high roller, but the Eldorado feels like the family-run establishment it is (it's owned by the Carano family of Ferrari-Carano Winery, one of the most beautiful wineries in the Dry Creek Valley, but I'll save that for another review).
As for our room, it was a typical king room, clean, comfortable, plenty of room, nothing overly fancy, but certainly comparable to the standard rooms I've stayed in at the Grand Sierra, Atlantis, and Silver Legacy.
I can't say enough about the people...they were truly what made our short visit so pleasant. We will definitely be back in the next couple months.
