Stayed here in early June for one-night on my way up from Arizona to Las Vegas. Stayed in the center building overlooking Colorado river on upper floor. I made this reservation at this hotel mainly due to reader reviews, and the price could not be beat for a King bed ($50). Valet parking was prompt and courteous, check-in was fast. The hotel was nice, the room comfortable and clean, with comfortable bed with extra pillows. Bathroom was all marble, nice soaps/lotions and plenty of hot water and good shower pressure.
View of the river / pool was a plus. I actually seen the two ducks swimming around in the pool that I had read about in one reader review. Pool was not crowded, and beachfront adjoining pool area allows you to take a dip in the Colorado if you want to, or rent a waverunner.
Downside of hotel was no free internet access, and the buffet. For the price, the buffet food selection was mediocre at best, however the prime rib was tasty. But I did notice several flies around the food. That alone turned me off. Buffet servers / wait staff were very quick and attentive. But if I had a second chance, I think I would pass on the buffet. Don't get me wrong, it filled the hole in the stomach, but I think if you asked some locals I am sure that they could steer you to a better casino buffet.
In the morning, I went down to the in-casino McDonalds and ordered two sausage McMuffins (with egg) and two large cups of coffee to bring back up to the room, and it cost over $11. (say what?)
The Harrah's gaming tables, weren't friendly and the slots were not very loose, (in other words, I was losing my shirt fast), so I went down the road to the Riverside Casino (a rather dated and more grungy "locals casino" ) and had a great time with lower minimums on the table games and better payoffs on the slots. Cocktail waitress service was also far superior than at Harrahs.
Stopped by the Golden Nugget Casino and it was pretty dead. Tables/slots were about the same as Harrah's. Had a much better time playing tables/slots at the local "no-name" casinos.
I would recommend and stay again at the Harrah's Laughlin Hotel. Stay in upper floor of the center building, but head out of there to get your morning breakfast and dinner. Gamble at the Riverside Casino or other no-names. Good Luck!
