We stayed at Treasure Island in a Tower Suite for 2 nights – a Wednesday and Thursday night in July 2008. This review will be solely for the hotel part of our stay and nothing about the casino, restaurants and other amenities.
CHECK-IN
We arrived at the hotel around 1pm and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a few people ahead of us. The desk clerk confirmed our reservation through verification of my ID. While she first told us that our room was not yet ready, she made a phone call and was able to secure a room for us immediately. Also, when she heard that we were in Vegas for our wedding, she told me that we would receive a complimentary bottle of champagne – all we needed to do was call the desk when we wanted it. (we called later that evening and it arrived in about 15 minutes). The front desk will also put an additional $200 hold on your credit card. They do this in case you decide to send charges to the room, such as dining and gift shop purchases, etc.
PROS – Quick and professional service. Asking about the reason for our stay and then offering champagne was a nice touch.
CONS – None.
NOTE – When leaving on Friday morning, the check-in area was completely filled with people at noon. The lines appeared as if they would take an hour to get through.
ROOM
We were given room 27050 – a tower suite on the 27th floor facing the strip and sirens cove. The room was very easy to find and we were one of the closest rooms to the vending/ice. The entry consists of double doors with a very small foyer. The room is very large and has an L shaped sectional couch, a dining table with two chairs, a desk with chair, a king sized bed and a table of drawers with a flat screen TV. The desk has drawers for clothes, as do end tables on each side of the bed and there are also two drawers in the TV stand. The TV stand has a small refrigerator inside of it as well. There are two telephones in the room and a clock/radio with iPod capabilities. Even though the TV is a flat-screen, it does not have a high-def signal. While this room was perfect for when we invited wedding guests to our room pre-ceremony, we would probably have never used the couch and dining table. Actually, this room was much larger than expected.
PROS – Very large room and nicely decorated. The king bed is a pillow-top bed and extremely comfortable – even though we normally prefer a firm mattress, this bed was exceptional. The couch and dining table were a plus when entertaining guests. There is in-room internet ($14 a day) and can be hard wired or wireless.
CONS – The room remained hot and the thermostat was at its lowest setting. Maintenance came within 15 minutes and changed the air filter and adjusted the vents to blow air toward the bed. The maintenance employee told us that all rooms have the same air units but the larger rooms have difficultly keeping cool. We kept our shades closed during the day and this helped. The fridge does not get cold and this is probably because it is inside an enclosed area. Since the ice machine was nearby, this was not a big issue. While there are a lot of lights in the room, it does not get bright unless the windows are open. The outdoor show at Sirens Cove (the pirate ship show) shoots fireworks up until around midnight. These are very loud and woke me during the last show.
BATHROOMS
This suite has two bathrooms. The “his” bathroom is larger than a standard hotel room bathroom. It has a double door entry, however there is no way to lock these doors. It has a decent sized granite vanity with a single sink bowl. It also has a closet (safe inside this one), a toilet and a large walk-in shower. The floors are marble tile throughout, including the shower and it’s walls. The shower has a single glass door entry and a very large showerhead; it looks very similar to a rain showerhead, but not quite the same. The shower itself is approximately 5 feet by 4 feet and could easily fit two (or more) people inside. There is also a built-in bench inside of this shower. The “her” bathroom also has an un-lockable double door entry. It is slightly larger than the “his” bathroom and is made of the same granite and marble materials. It has its own toilet and a larger vanity, which includes a small cushioned bench, a magnifying mirror for putting on makeup. There is a walk-in closet, which has a three-drawer dresser inside of it. A hair dryer and iron is located inside of this closet. While there is no shower in this bathroom, there is a whirlpool tub. It is large enough to fit two people.
PROS – Nicely appointed and very large in size. Plenty of closet space. The shower is very spacious.
CONS – These rooms get hot! Since the air unit is located in the bedroom, air does not get to these unless the doors are open. These rooms require more lighting, especially the shower.
NOTE – Body gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion are provided in the room. My wife liked them, I did not. I usually bring my own.
HOUSEKEEPING
We kept the “do not disturb” sign on our door. Late in the afternoon, we received a call from housekeeping asking if we wanted our room serviced. I requested that someone bring us additional glasses (for guests) and fresh towels. A housekeeper came about an hour later and provided these. She was very polite and provided me with everything I requested. While she seemed anxious to clean our room, I declined.
NOTE – Once finished the complimentary champagne, I left the tray, bucket and glasses outside of the front door. It was not picked up until the following day.
CHECK-OUT
I used the TV express check-out and got to the last screen before it stated that it was unavailable. I called the front desk and they checked me out, without question. We left the room keys on the desk. Very easy.
OVERALL
While I was very particular in reviewing this room for those Trip Advisor members who seek information, we would definitely recommend it. It was perfect for what we needed on this trip and more than we expected.
