I have recently return from a one week trip at the Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas. After reading the previous reviews, I was a little worried about some area of the hotel, but I should not have been.
Check in was quick and easy and we were allocated a non smoking king-size room, which was great. I also upgraded to a south facing Tower Deluxe Strip View Room which was worth ever penny of the $20 extra per night per person. The room was a good size with a large bathroom, hair dryer, LCD TV and the most amazing view of the strip.
The room was comfortable and the bed was amazing and yes it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The only down sides of the room was that the bathroom had no heater, so it was a bit chilly when you got out of the shower, and the walls were paper thin. You could hear your neighbours TV, the traffic noise outside and the maids in the morning, but to be fair this was a very minor niggle for us.
We sampled all the restaurants in the hotel, all were great with excellent service and food. We did have to book the Steak House which seemed to fill up quick, but with so much choice if it was full you had something else to go to. Tangerine was also good, but drinks were a bit expensive and with so much going on outside you didn’t really need to go here!!
The casino was busy all the time and the tables a little intimidating for a first timer, as no one really had the time to explain what was what! The slot machines were fun, with a great choice and the also paid out fairly regularly which did become a bit addictive.
We also took in Mystere which was a really great show for all ages. Be warned that if you are seated in the front section, there is some audience participation which was all good fun, but I was glad to be sitting up higher!!
The sirens show is good fun, but do watch it twice, as there are two ships that both have things going on, so if you are the front facing the sirens ship, you will miss the pirates ship and vice versa. Do get out about 15 mins before the show starts, as it gets very busy.
The hotel staff were very informative, but I found the bell staff to be far more helpful that guest services or reception. The hotel was perfectly placed on the strip, and in easy walking distance to all the hotels and fashion show mall. You would need a taxi to the stratosphere end of the strip and also to Freemount Street, and I found the best outlet was the Premier Las Vegas Outlet over the Las Vegas Outlet, both of which cost about $20 dollars in a taxi.
Also for the best places to eat, ask the taxi drivers, they gave some really good recommendations and advice.
I wouldn’t not stay at Treasure Island again, but with the amount of choice on the strip you really wouldn’t need to stay at the same place twice.
