We were here for 5 days at the end of April 2008. This is the sixth time we have stayed here since 2004. The hotel was renovated in the summer of 2006, I believe. The hotel is located at the south east corner of the Hughes Center. The hotel is smoke and gambling-free. There are two computers with printers and free internet access in the Hearth Room.
There are numerous dining and gambling options in walking distance. The closest grocery store is a Von's about 1.5 miles away. The hotel is 1 mile west of the Strip. It is a very convenient location if you have a car as you can avoid a lot of traffic by using the streets through the Hughes Center. It takes about 5 minutes to drive to the Wynn/Fashion Place Mall area and 10 minutes, if the traffic is light, to the MGM Grand.
The rooms are the typical studio, one and two-bedroom suites. The breakfast buffet is one of the better ones in Residence Inns and they probably have the best food of any Residence Inn's Monday through Thursday Manager's Reception including beer and wine.
There is a "Concierge" in the lobby during much of the day but their actual function is to try to get you to schedule a visit to Marriott's time-share sales center. The concierges are low key though and very friendly even if you don't want the sales pitch.
The hotel is pet friendly and the rooms are quiet. They have a central A/C-heat system with wall-mounted thermostats rather than the typical heating/cooling units mounted in a closet found in most Residence Inns.
Although tourists like us stay here the main group of guests appear to be people here for training courses and meetings, military and government personnel, and those needing housing while moving to or from the area.
