The Orleans is one of the best choices in the valley for good quality accommodations, amenities and service at competitive price, but does require a car since it is a couple of miles from Las Vegas Boulevard (though there is a free shuttle service to the centre of LVB). Parking is plentiful and does not involve long walks to the hotel towers. Dining choices are many and varied, all of reasonable standard although unremarkable. The Prime Rib Loft is a good value mid-range offering.
With 2500+ rooms off the tourist path, there are deals to be had although the hotel is popular with regular visitors. If available for <$80 you have a bargain, but off season and away from major conventions it can go as low as $35 direct or (undisclosed) even less with consolidators. Regular rooms are 500sqft with writing desk, separate seating area with easy chair, three seat couch and marble table, plenty of storage, conventional TV in armoire setting, king or two queen size (very comfortable) beds, bathroom with hanging storage, granite counter tops, separate toilet and shower, sliding door to main room.
Only a couple of criticisms : Pillows are particularly poor. Air conditioning is stand alone under the window and noisy - no problem in winter but can be troublesome otherwise. Some may find the New Orleans theme a little cheesy, but in the context of Las Vegas it is far from offensive.
Interestingly and not in common with other Boyd properties, the soundproofing in the hotel towers at the Orleans is exceptional.
Highly recommended for budget conscious travellers who expect good, reliable full service hotel standards.
