“Just to little to far out”

I thought i'd book this hotel to try and save a few pounds, but it backfired slightly

First of all as far as the hotel goes its ok. Its a huge complex and completely (as the majority of hotels in LV). Its clean and the room service prices are reasonable. The casino is like every other casino in LV

Here's where we went wrong. The hotel is around 40 minutes walk from the strip, but in the summer heat its not easy and we could only manage it oncep- it slike walking next to a motorway the whole way!

Its around $10 for a taxi to the strip- a journey that we did twice on some days. I think this hotel is slightly cheaper than the strip hotels, however it was a fasle economy

I would give this hotel 75/100 for cleanliness, location and staff friendliness

“Very Roomy and quiet”

The Orleans Hotel & Casino

I stayed there when I came to Vegas for the Las Vegas Bikefest motorcycle rally. The room was large and the hotel was very quiet. My only complaint is that I asked for a smoking room with a king sized bed and when I arrived all they could provide was a non smoking with two queen sized beds. It is a couple of miles off the strip which I liked because I had a rented Harley and wanted easy access to and from parking plus somewhere I could keep an eye on the bike. The staff was pleasant and friendly with housekeeping speaking to you whenever they saw you in the hallway. I would stay there again.

    • Disliked — I didn't get the king sized bed and smoking room I requested.

“Good stay”

I enjoyed everything about this hotel. The rooms were spacious, the housekeeping was prompt, the food was good and the staff was courteous. The check-in was listed at 3pm but they let me check in at 9am. I paid about 50 dollars a night but it seems like the rates are going to go up later so you better check-in soon. Their was some kids in the hotel but they were mostly in the buffet area. The only lows were that the beds were a little hard and the place was smokey some. I would love to return to this hotel.

“Still one of the best values”

The Orleans Hotel & Casino

The Orleans is one of the best choices in the valley for good quality accommodations, amenities and service at competitive price, but does require a car since it is a couple of miles from Las Vegas Boulevard (though there is a free shuttle service to the centre of LVB). Parking is plentiful and does not involve long walks to the hotel towers. Dining choices are many and varied, all of reasonable standard although unremarkable. The Prime Rib Loft is a good value mid-range offering.

With 2500+ rooms off the tourist path, there are deals to be had although the hotel is popular with regular visitors. If available for <$80 you have a bargain, but off season and away from major conventions it can go as low as $35 direct or (undisclosed) even less with consolidators. Regular rooms are 500sqft with writing desk, separate seating area with easy chair, three seat couch and marble table, plenty of storage, conventional TV in armoire setting, king or two queen size (very comfortable) beds, bathroom with hanging storage, granite counter tops, separate toilet and shower, sliding door to main room.

Only a couple of criticisms : Pillows are particularly poor. Air conditioning is stand alone under the window and noisy - no problem in winter but can be troublesome otherwise. Some may find the New Orleans theme a little cheesy, but in the context of Las Vegas it is far from offensive.

Interestingly and not in common with other Boyd properties, the soundproofing in the hotel towers at the Orleans is exceptional.

Highly recommended for budget conscious travellers who expect good, reliable full service hotel standards.

Had to write about this hotel. Stayed there Feb. 13 - 17 on the 19th floor. Plus side, it's clean and the shuttle service is good (when they are not changing their minds which bus goes where). The front desk did admit to bed bugs but I never saw any. They DON'T HAVE a Concierge service in the hotel, although they have people in a room that say they will help you and then refused to book any tours. They were lazy as could be. I had to go to another hotel to get some co-operation. They nickel and dimed us. Took off first night and credited it back at less money and can't find what's wrong in their books. The bartenders are rude (especially when you have complimentary tickets for a drink). Food is terrible at any restaurant you go to in this hotel. Tried a couple of them. Did not see anyone win at any table or slots. Everyone admits that they are very tight at this hotel. On the plus side, room was cheap and really quiet, although there were tons of kids running around. They did agree to get the $5 a day tax (for resort fees!!!) taken off (I did ask nicely) but they were very disrespectful later and told me next time things would be different. No way to talk to guests. I would not stay there again even if it meant paying more money somewhere else. Never know, next time they may have bed bugs! Yuck!
