We just returned from a 3-night stay at Caesars Palace in Las vegas to celebrate my husband's birthday. We understood that the check-in time was between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. We arrived for check in at 3:30 p.m. and, after waiting in a substantial line, were told no room was available and we would be text-messaged when a room was ready. At 4:40 p.m., no message was received. Called to find out the status and was told our room was, indeed, ready. We never did receive notification via text message to our cell phone. Needless to say, we were quite peeved that no room was ready at 3:30 p.m. and believe that this is unacceptable practice. We have stayed in Vegas numerous times for special occasions or just a quick getaway ... never have we encountered a room not being available by 3:30 p.m. on check-in no matter where we stayed. Also when we checked in I reminded the person that it was my husband's birthday we were celebrating with them. Her response was "what do you plan to do?" That's it!
As for the room, once in, one could say it was quite large. Ours was located in the Centurion Tower. However, it was less than impressive. The walls were very bare and it was sparsely decorated. One lamp shade was torn and well worn as were the drapes. The carpets were very thin and badly stained. Although the bathroom was large, it was again unimpressive. There was a significant amount of mold in the shower and in the corners on the floor. Yuk! The toilet ran often and we finally had to call for someone to come and stop it. When people flushed toilets or took showers in other rooms or on other floors, the pipes in the walls were so noisy they woke me up several times during the night!
As for food ... stay away from the Agustus Cafe. The service is painfully slow and woefully inadequate. Although someone comes to take your drink order right away, the wait staff responsible for taking your actual food order can take up to 20 minutes to show up and actually take the order. Then it's another 20 minutes before the food actually arrives. I'm not sure whether they have to go to another casino or restaurant for the food or what! The restaurant itself is also horribly overpriced for what you get, but then that seems to be the norm for Vegas nowadays. If you can find another place to get breakfast or a late night snack I suggest you do so.
Aside from that our stay was quite pleasant. If you can, take in a meal at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris hotel ... fabulous as always. Also, Spago's is quite good in the Forum Shop area.
This was the first time we stayed at Caesars and I can assure you it will be our last!! We come to Vegas at least 2 times a year, if not more and we will not return to this hotel/casino again.
