“Great Place to Stay”

Palazzo Hotel & Casino

We stayed at the new Palazzo in June. The hotel and casino were great. Just beautiful. We have previously stayed at The Venetian and found the rooms to be exactly the same. The casino at The Venetian is larger and therefore, I think the filtration system is better. The smoke at the Palazzo casino is much more noticable. I realize there are many people who smoke but there are many more of us who do not and I wish the casinos would pay more attention to those of us who don't.

While staying at the Palazzo, we ate dinner at The Cut. It was fabulous! The food was fantastic and the service was very good. If you would like a great steak, eat at The Cut which is located right at the Palazzo.

“Great Facility Ruined by Poor Service”

Palazzo Hotel & Casino

Jul 8, 2008
4/12 found this review helpful

The Palazzo is a new hotel on the strip owned and connected to the Venetian. The nice facility can't make up for poor service, though, and they have a lot of problems. My biggest issue was the lack of turn down service. Yes, I can turn down my own bed. What I needed (since we both showered every evening before dinner and shows) were clean towels. The other thing that is nice to have in your room after coming in at night from the Vegas summer heat is ice in your ice bucket. Both of these services are included in turn down. Turn down service is part of what I was paying for and I expect to receive the services I pay for. Our room was skipped the first night, which I thought was just an oversight. Upon coming in the second night, same story, no evening service. The Palazzo states if you need anything at all, press the "priority service" button on your phone. I did that and it connects you to the hotel operator. I told the operator for the 2nd night in a row, no evening service. No apology and she sounded put out that I was even calling. She did ask if I wanted someone to come up, but it was 10:30pm and I said it was too late. I asked if she could at least make sure we received evening service the next night. She said she would take care of it. Next night, no evening service. I called again. Again no apology for their failures. This night I told them to please go ahead and send up housekeeping. After 45 minutes, I called back and asked for a manager. I told the manager I had been skipped for the third night in a row. No apology. He did have housekeeping there within 10 minutes. A lot of frustration for clean towels. This wasn't the only service problem, just the most annoying. Same complaints as others: huge elevator lines and you end up packed in to an elevator cab. Poor service in the Grand Lux Restaurant. If you bring up a problem, Palazzo employees act irritated that you've even mentioned anything. An apology for the service problems would have gone a long way with me, but none was offered. There are too many choices in Las Vegas now to put up with poor service like this.

“Great Stay @ Palazzo”

Palazzo Hotel & Casino

4 of 5 stars
Edmonton, AB

5/7 found this review helpful

Just back from a great, relaxing couple of days at the Palazzo - July 1-5, 2008.

The property is a great place - not as crazy busy as the Venetian in either the casino or lobby (which to us was a bonus), and we found that the Venetian and Palazzo both weren't very smoky casinos.

As has been stated many times, the rooms are suites - we had a 42nd floor suite facing the Wynn Golf Course (in 4 days the most we saw was 3 groups on the ENTIRE course....$500/round plus 112F heat will do that I guess!) Beds are great, TVs (all three) worked very well, and even had REAL HD....Bathroom was huge. Closet was pretty good....really we felt spoiled. A 5-star room. Could have used a coffee maker though.

I have seen a bunch of reviews about elevators. We had no problems at all - never a wait for more than 1 minute.

The pool is in the shade much of the morning, but you get full use of the Venetian pool (a quick stroll), and access to Tao Beach if you are so inclined (we weren't, but apparently it's free - many young kids, of the over 21 variety, heading that way). The Venetian pool is much larger than the Palazzo (main) pool, though the Palazzo has....I want to say 5 smaller (pools). I'd pass on the frozen/slushy drinks in the major heat....for $12 the watery syrup that the drinks (of course) ended up made for some cranky folks. The beer was cold, and....$6 I think (might have been $6.50)

Only onsite restaurant we went to was the Wolfgang Puck restaurant on the pool deck (name escapes, but you walk right through it on your way to the pool)...excellent pizza, great to sit in the shade and people watch - reasonable prices. We also had coffees and bagels at the coffee stand at the bottom of the elevators - expensive ($3.50 for a large regular coffee), but when in Rome, eh? There is a small gift shop with booze and very light snacks right across from the coffee joint.

Check in/check out, very smooth....all in all, I would certainly stay there again for a similar good deal. We would, however, rank this resort below the Signature (about the same price while we were there) - depends on what you like and what you're after I suppose.

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best...

“Looks beautiful but it's all for show”

Palazzo Hotel & Casino

Jul 8, 2008
6/15 found this review helpful

We are frequent visitors to Vegas and we usually stay on the Strip, so by now we have stayed in the majority of the Strip resorts. We liked the Venetian so we figured we would give their new place a try. What a mistake!

The hotel looks beautiful - the decor is lovely and everything is shiny and new. Should you require any basic service, however, you're out of luck. A few examples:

-Underaged children running around the hotel and casino at all hours (sorry but Vegas is NOT a family location)
-Elevators which never worked and weren't fixed, leading to a wait at all hours
-Simultaneously shutting down two of the few remaining elevators for "cleaning" at the busiest time of the night on a holiday weekend
-Room was cleaned once in a 3-day stay
-Naps/sleeping interrupted by housecleaning multiple times despite "Do Not Disturb" sign up (yes, they called us/knocked on our door to say they would clean our room, but never actually cleaned it)

And the incident which really sums up the Palazzo experience:
On the first night we arrived, I realized that all 8 of the bedpillows in the room were filled with goose-down, which, like many people, I am allergic to. There was also a huge down-filled duvet, but no blanket on the bed - not very practical in July in Vegas. I called housekeeping (no easy task since there is no housekeeping button on the phone, nor a directory in the room) and requested that they send some non-down pillows and blankets. Two hours later, there was no sign of any pillows or blankets and I called back. The operator said she would send someone and half an hour later a worker showed up with pillows and blankets. When I pulled off their pillowcases, they were *also* down-filled pillows. I was shocked - how stupid were these people? I called housekeeping again. The operator promised to check it out and call me back. A few minutes later she called and informed me that she had talked to the man who brought me pillows, and that he had checked and the pillows were, in fact, foam, not down.

Now I had housekeeping calling me a liar at 2am when I had been waiting all night to get some pillows I could sleep on. I insisted that she send him again, with foam pillows this time. Ten minutes later he showed up without any pillows. He informed me that I was wrong and that he had brought me foam pillows previously. I could not even believe it at this point. Not only had I been denied hours of sleep by the incompetents running this hotel, but now they were calling me a liar - and why on earth would I lie about something like that? Not to mention, I know for a fact that many people are allergic to down and this must be a very common request - which they totally failed to fulfill.

At 2:15 in the morning, I tossed every pillow in the room out in the hallway and pulled every single one out of its pillowcase to indicate to this jerk hotel worker that I was not lying to him. Sure enough, every single one was filled with feathers. 10 pillows - all down. The worker grudgingly left and came back 20 minutes later with foam pillows.

At this point it had been nearly 3 hours since I made a ridiculously simple request, and I was treated horribly the whole time. I've had better service from the $50-a-night motels I stay at when I drive cross-country. In fact, I don't think I've ever been treated so poorly in any Vegas hotel. I will never stay here again and I will encourage all my friends and family to avoid this rat-hole. The entire management should be fired immediately if Shel Adelson hopes to maintain his credibility as a luxury hotelier.

“Great Rooms...Ugly Pool Scene....Smoke”

Palazzo Hotel & Casino

4 of 5 stars

Pros: Nice rooms, Well decorated, Defiantly 5 star quality. Great Shows at Venetian. Saw Blue Man Group and Phantom.

Cons: Not enough staff to keep out the Riff Raff.

Overcrowded pools, smoking allowed everywhere, call girls in the casinos.

The major disappointment was that the pools were over crowded to the point that you didn't want to get in the water, and if you walked over to the Venetian Pools it was even worse. It appears that the general population of Las Vegas is allowed to use the pools here. You will notice that the people in the restaurants, the shops, and staying at the hotels, are not the people hanging out at the pools. The pool atmosphere appeared to be something out of an MTV video, especially the closer you get to Tao Beach. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a gang shooting in the future near the Tao Beach pool.

Also, if you don't want to be in a "forced to breathe everyone else's smoke environment", you may want to look elsewhere.
