Let me say from the outset... I am a bit of a snob who still likes to have fun and that I am always suprised at how much I love Las Vegas. We were 3 friends traveling together for no reason other than to get away. We are 3 guys who happen to be Gay, not really important but I always think it's good to know a little about the reviewer so you have some idea who's doing the talking. I have stayed at Mandalay Bay, Paris a few times as well as Bellagio. This was my first stay at Wynn and it will not be my last.
We made our reservations about 3 weeks ahead directly with the Hotel. The rate averaged to be about $300.00/nt including taxes (And on what we found out was NASCAR weekend That wasn't bad at all) We were going to need 2 beds and requested such without mentioning the 3rd person when we made the reservation. The bed thing was noted by the reservationist, I was told, but could not be guaranteed. I was a little nervous about that but held my breath and let it ride. We were meant to be at Wynn for 4 nights Feb 28-March 2. On the 27th we were going to stay at a hotel in Boston before our early flight but on the way decided that if we could leave that night... we would. We called Wynn and they could not have been more helpful to extend our reservation to include the 27th and at a great rate.
We Arrived at the hotel at about 11:30 PM and self parked... super easy and easier to get your car rather than wait for the Valet on a busy morning. Check in was super easy and the refined elegance of the lobby, casino and public areas impressed from the get go. We were given a fantastic room on the 55th floor with an awesome view and... 2 Queen beds. The decore is Vegas shic in earth tones of copper and cream, sage and a touch of black. Nothing was missing and we quickly renamed room 5564 the "Deluxe Apartment in the Sky!!".
Notes on the room: Mini-Bar... Including the treats outside the Mini-Bar on the top of the dresser... they're wired. Look... but don't touch unless you're buying. You have 30 seconds to return the item to its position or a sensor automatically charges it and alerts inventory controle to replace it... and none of it's cheap so... BEWARE. (Bellagio has the same system BTW) We LOVED the push button drapery controles becide the bed and actually pushed the button to watch an awesome sunrise one morning. Our view was from the back side of the hotel which was fine with us. The strip view is nice but it's a lot brighter and from 55 floors up... it's pretty far down to people watch. I actually prefered the mountain view where you can see the planes coming in from far away and the mountains beyond. So soothing with a glass of wine as the sun sets.
Wynn itself is the most elegantly appointed hotel on the strip while still maintaining its Las Vegas glitz factor. The Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay is quieter and more refined but could be in any city around the world... Wynn is simply the best of Las Vegas. The design of the public areas makes it seem as though there are less people than there really are. As a hotel guest, you don't feel as though you are being observed by tourists seeing how the other half lives like a wierd sociology Diorama... I felt like that at Bellagio. The pool is accessed from the Spa level or through the "Secret Door" just accross from the Buffet. We sat at the "European Pool" each day... not for the topless sun queens (we're gay guys, we couldn't care less) but because the music's better and the sun stays out there longer. The pools are heated to 82 degrees... Paris' pool is not heated at all. We sat on the round "In Pool" loungers the first couple of days, for free, until the weekend when they magically became a $200.00 daily rental fee. They're cool but not THAT cool. The sun goes behind the new Palazzo tower at about 3pm at that time of the year.
The Spa is $25.00/day or $69.00 for a 3 day use... and includes the Gym, Thermal Suite with single sex sauna, steam, jacuzzi and "Deluge" waterfall and a great fireplaced lounge area. The 3 of us enjoied afternoon workouts and relaxation in the Termal Suite. The Deluge is an amazing thing... it massages you with falling water. I wasn't even tempted toward an actual Massage treatment with this available so even know I paid for several days use of the space... it was still cheaper than an actual treatment and was really relaxing, so I highly recommend you buy in with a smile.
Coffee: It's expensive... Starbucks is accross the street at Fashion Show and I'd rather take the walk so... I did. Breakfast choices are all over the place inside the Hotel but we found that the cafe along the shopping arcade accross from Brioni is the one to hit. There is an outdoor area with heaters overlooking the waterfall, you order at the counter and they serve you at your table, and there are mor selections than in the coffee shop by the Casino. We also tried La Terrace and the Coffee Shop but liked the liked this place best. Price was OK too. (Great gelato there too)
Other Tips to save a few bucks: Buy wine and hooch for your room at the liquor store on the way in from the Airport.... way less and that adds up ove a 5 day stay. Get Sandwiches for lunch by the pool at the same place cafe where I suggested you get breakfast... Good selection and a lot less than ordering take out from La Terrace (Although their Lamb Wrap is pretty awesome at La Terrace).
I thought before I arrived that I would want to upgrade to the Tower Suites when we arrived but I honestly neve felt like I was missing anything so... what the heck.
The Gay Thing: I don't really travel with any issues about having to find gay culture... I am more interested in being welcomed and comfortable in the real world. Wynn was perfect. No hang ups or issues and felt perfectly at home the whole time.

All in all I think Mr. Wynn learned his lessons at Bellagio and hit just the right balance here at Wynn. I'm looking forward to Encore... and will be back to check it out when it opens at the end of the year. Good Job Steve!!
