On this trip I decided to mix it up a bit and stay at two hotels - the conference hotel during the business part of the stay (Wynn) and somewhere new for the fun part of the stay (Palazzo - review posted). This is my second trip to Vegas and I was forced to stay at the Flamingo last time so I was expecting the Wynn to be a very different experience. All I have to say is yawn - for two reasons. First, try to get there at 3 pm to secure a strip view room. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - if you don't, you will hear the AWFUL and LOUD sounds of construction on the second Wynn tower BEGINNING AT 3 AM!!!! I didn;t sleep at all (yawn). I know Vegas hotels are ginormous, but this place is sooo big that it's impersonal. I did not have one good staff experience and the food - room service or the coffee/cafee - was sub-par. Yes, there are some good bits in the mix. The mattress is great, the room is asesthetically pleasing and the bathroom is one of the best I've been in, but that's where the good ended. Perhaps the Tower Suites are a better experience, but I don't think the Wynn is worth the money. In fact, now that I've been there, I feel like updating my Flamingo Go Room review title to "If given the choice between the Wynn and the Go Room, I might choose Go Room."

“A True "Wynner"”

Let me say from the outset... I am a bit of a snob who still likes to have fun and that I am always suprised at how much I love Las Vegas. We were 3 friends traveling together for no reason other than to get away. We are 3 guys who happen to be Gay, not really important but I always think it's good to know a little about the reviewer so you have some idea who's doing the talking. I have stayed at Mandalay Bay, Paris a few times as well as Bellagio. This was my first stay at Wynn and it will not be my last.

We made our reservations about 3 weeks ahead directly with the Hotel. The rate averaged to be about $300.00/nt including taxes (And on what we found out was NASCAR weekend That wasn't bad at all) We were going to need 2 beds and requested such without mentioning the 3rd person when we made the reservation. The bed thing was noted by the reservationist, I was told, but could not be guaranteed. I was a little nervous about that but held my breath and let it ride. We were meant to be at Wynn for 4 nights Feb 28-March 2. On the 27th we were going to stay at a hotel in Boston before our early flight but on the way decided that if we could leave that night... we would. We called Wynn and they could not have been more helpful to extend our reservation to include the 27th and at a great rate.

We Arrived at the hotel at about 11:30 PM and self parked... super easy and easier to get your car rather than wait for the Valet on a busy morning. Check in was super easy and the refined elegance of the lobby, casino and public areas impressed from the get go. We were given a fantastic room on the 55th floor with an awesome view and... 2 Queen beds. The decore is Vegas shic in earth tones of copper and cream, sage and a touch of black. Nothing was missing and we quickly renamed room 5564 the "Deluxe Apartment in the Sky!!".

Notes on the room: Mini-Bar... Including the treats outside the Mini-Bar on the top of the dresser... they're wired. Look... but don't touch unless you're buying. You have 30 seconds to return the item to its position or a sensor automatically charges it and alerts inventory controle to replace it... and none of it's cheap so... BEWARE. (Bellagio has the same system BTW) We LOVED the push button drapery controles becide the bed and actually pushed the button to watch an awesome sunrise one morning. Our view was from the back side of the hotel which was fine with us. The strip view is nice but it's a lot brighter and from 55 floors up... it's pretty far down to people watch. I actually prefered the mountain view where you can see the planes coming in from far away and the mountains beyond. So soothing with a glass of wine as the sun sets.

Wynn itself is the most elegantly appointed hotel on the strip while still maintaining its Las Vegas glitz factor. The Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay is quieter and more refined but could be in any city around the world... Wynn is simply the best of Las Vegas. The design of the public areas makes it seem as though there are less people than there really are. As a hotel guest, you don't feel as though you are being observed by tourists seeing how the other half lives like a wierd sociology Diorama... I felt like that at Bellagio. The pool is accessed from the Spa level or through the "Secret Door" just accross from the Buffet. We sat at the "European Pool" each day... not for the topless sun queens (we're gay guys, we couldn't care less) but because the music's better and the sun stays out there longer. The pools are heated to 82 degrees... Paris' pool is not heated at all. We sat on the round "In Pool" loungers the first couple of days, for free, until the weekend when they magically became a $200.00 daily rental fee. They're cool but not THAT cool. The sun goes behind the new Palazzo tower at about 3pm at that time of the year.

The Spa is $25.00/day or $69.00 for a 3 day use... and includes the Gym, Thermal Suite with single sex sauna, steam, jacuzzi and "Deluge" waterfall and a great fireplaced lounge area. The 3 of us enjoied afternoon workouts and relaxation in the Termal Suite. The Deluge is an amazing thing... it massages you with falling water. I wasn't even tempted toward an actual Massage treatment with this available so even know I paid for several days use of the space... it was still cheaper than an actual treatment and was really relaxing, so I highly recommend you buy in with a smile.

Coffee: It's expensive... Starbucks is accross the street at Fashion Show and I'd rather take the walk so... I did. Breakfast choices are all over the place inside the Hotel but we found that the cafe along the shopping arcade accross from Brioni is the one to hit. There is an outdoor area with heaters overlooking the waterfall, you order at the counter and they serve you at your table, and there are mor selections than in the coffee shop by the Casino. We also tried La Terrace and the Coffee Shop but liked the liked this place best. Price was OK too. (Great gelato there too)

Other Tips to save a few bucks: Buy wine and hooch for your room at the liquor store on the way in from the Airport.... way less and that adds up ove a 5 day stay. Get Sandwiches for lunch by the pool at the same place cafe where I suggested you get breakfast... Good selection and a lot less than ordering take out from La Terrace (Although their Lamb Wrap is pretty awesome at La Terrace).

I thought before I arrived that I would want to upgrade to the Tower Suites when we arrived but I honestly neve felt like I was missing anything so... what the heck.

The Gay Thing: I don't really travel with any issues about having to find gay culture... I am more interested in being welcomed and comfortable in the real world. Wynn was perfect. No hang ups or issues and felt perfectly at home the whole time.

For reviews of La Reve, Mon Amis Gabby, SW Steak, Il Mulino and Michael Mina... check out their specific Trip Advisor review pages.

All in all I think Mr. Wynn learned his lessons at Bellagio and hit just the right balance here at Wynn. I'm looking forward to Encore... and will be back to check it out when it opens at the end of the year. Good Job Steve!!

“Fantastic service, gorgeous resort, recommend highly”

Wynn Las Vegas

My husband and I recently stayed at Wynn for two nights in late February. We had a resort room with a view of the golf course, room 5662. The room had a king bed, sofa and desk, floor to ceiling windows, and bathroom with a tub and shower big enough for two.
During our stay, we ate at Wynn's lunch and dinner buffets and saw Spamalot. The buffets had a huge variety of food which seemed to emphasize seafood and sushi. John O'Hurley (Peterman from Seinfeld) stars in Spamalot and got lots of laughs.
Wynn is built on the site of the old Desert Inn and has the only golf course of the strip. The course is amazing, and at $500 a round it should be. The course is only open to Wynn guests and VIPs of other casinos. Tee times are 50 minutes apart and the fee includes cart, clubs, and shoes.
The weather in late February was fantastic - 72 and sunny. The pool area was gorgeous with many cabanas. There is an adults-only area of the pool with topless sunbathing, bar, and tables.
I love any hotel built by Steve Wynn and can't wait to stay at Encore at Wynn, the new all-suite tower that will open later this year.

“Wondrous Wynn”

Wynn Las Vegas

5 of 5 stars

7/7 found this review helpful

This is how you run a luxury hotel in Vegas - or anywhere for that matter.

I will precede my review by saying that I have visited Vegas a dozen times a year on business and otherwise (Not a pro-gambler by any means) for the last 6 years, and since my first stay at the Wynn in May '05, I cannot stay anywhere else. Most recently Mar 1-5.

Check-In
Flawless. I've checked in as early as 10am and they always have a lovely room ready. No slipping anyone $20s for an upgrade, simply ask and if they can, they will.

Hotel & Casino
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning! Nothing but the best materials and a really upscale and whimsical design. Steve Wynn knew what he was doing when he built the Bellagio, and Wynn is the 21st century version. It is upscale, elegant, classic, but not stuffy and boring. The pools are something from the South of France and those pools girls are angelic.

Rooms
Ahhhh, the rooms. I never wanted to leave. I've stayed in all from standard resort rooms (far from standard) to the Tower Suites, but mostly in the Panoramic View Rooms. The beds are sinfully comfortable, the views or either the golf course or the strip are incredible, the bathrooms are just wrong in luxury. You see that no corners were cut in the high-quality bath products, towels, robes, and slippers provided.

Service
I can honestly say from my travels around the globe, I have never experienced better service. There have been times I've forgotten my toiletry case and they bring up a complimentary case filled with oversized items of everything imaginable. Every single employee you walk by gives you a big smile and greeting. One thing to mention was the speedy valet service. I have waited and waited and waited at other strip hotels for the valet but these guys were very efficient.

Overall
I really adore this hotel. It's the crème de la crème. The service truly makes it above all others. Should mention the buffet for breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner are frightfully decadent.

“Not How I Remember a Vegas Hotel”

Wynn Las Vegas

5 of 5 stars
Seattle, Washington

I used to go to Vegas on business yearly. Would stay in a typical hotel/casino with bad carpet, bad lighting, no clocks, and limited TV.

This does not describe the Wynn.

A co-worker recommended the Wynn, and she was dead on. Great room, top notch service, and an excellent meal. But I'm getting a little ahead of myself.

We had a room on the 52nd floor with a view of the Strip. The room was large, with a comfortable bed and sitting area. Large bathroom with a soaking tub and dual vanity. The room was spotless. Lots of nice amenities. Nice flat panel TV (with movies). Only oddity was the mini bar, which would charge you automatically if you took an item out for longer than a minute.

Our view allowed us to see all the way to the mountains and Red Rock Canyon. At night it was lights as far as you could see. If we looked down we could see the Strip and watch the Treasure Island pirate show.

Service was top flight. We aren't gamblers and if we were we wouldn't be high rollers. But the staff treated us just like we were. Polite and attentive regardless of where we went.

We ate dinner one night at Alex, which is the high end restaurant at the hotel. From being called by name by the hostess and the wait staff to the meal itself it was first class all the way.

I have to admit I'm not planning on becoming a Vegas regular. But when I go again I will stay at the Wynn.
