My wife and I stayed about four days at The Desert Rose. Thursday through Monday. When checking in the staff was helpful and let us change our room from a top floor to a bottom floor room more near the pool.
Thursday afternoon we caught the managers free happy hour. Good snacks and free wine or beer. The morning continental style breakfasts were larger than normal and pretty good. Full kitchens in the suites are always a plus.
Our only problem was the usual thumping sounds from the room above as people walked across, that was to be expected. The odd noise, that we couldn't figure out, was a kind of squeaky door hinge sound followed by a thump and then three more rapid thumps. When we checked out and mentioned it to the front desk they told us it was the security doors closing as people went in and out during the night or early morning hours. You are in Las Vegas so that is to be expected.
My suggestion is that you stay on the top floor if you think that might be a problem. We will next time.
ThankUBye.

Hotel was in walking distance of the strip and our room was right behind the Tropicana hotel parking lot. We stayed in the spacious 2 bedroom suite with good size lounging area and mini kitchen where we were able to make our own meals. The weather was semi rainy the weekend we went but we were able to relax in the room and not get "cabin fever." It was nice to be away from the constant noise of the strip and sleep in peace!

“Okay Stay at Desert Rose”

Desert Rose Resort

I booked a 1 bedroom suite for 2 nights since we had 2 kids with us and figured for the price of 120.00 per night it was a good deal. The room was clean and spacious but the balcony was blocked by some kind of wall where it looked like they were doing some work. We only had 3 towels in the room and since there were 4 of us, I asked the housekeeping girl who was outside my room when we got up for anothoer towel. Well, she spoke NO English and had to lead me to another girl who spoke a litte English. We gave our room mumber and she said she would leave another towel. When we returned to the room after a long day, only 2 towels were left for 4 people. I complained at checkout and was told I should have called the front desk.

The complimentary continental breakfast was suppose to be from 7am to 10am on weekends, however, when we went down at 9am Sunday, there was barely anything left. A man told me had been down earier before church and there was a lot of food. They ended up taking the food away at 9:45am. If they say 7-10am, they should have enough food until 10am. I complained at checkout and was told the delivery didn't show up so they ran out of food and had to shut down early.

They advertise WIFI in the room but wanted a 9.99 per day to use it. They had a computer in the lobby but you had to use your credit card to use it. It was 3.95 for 15 minutes!!! Even the cheap Comfort Inn doesn't charge to use the lobby computer!! I heard a man saying that he got charged a fee for each local call he made from his room.

The pool was crowded and we could never find a chair except after the sun went down.

It is a nice place in a good location off the strip close to everything but I have stayed at nicer places for the money. It is a timeshare resort and we were lucky enough not to be hounded about attending a presentation since we were only there for 2 days.

The best thing about this hotel was the extremely comfortable bed in the bedroom. The AC did not work well and the room was a bit stuffy so we had to keep the AC running constantly and had to leave the door open to the bedroom for the air to reach us. It was cooler outside as it was in the 50s at night and unusually cool in the days for this time of year in Vegas.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! This was my very first time in Vegas and I was ready for it to be an unforgettable experience, and believe me I will never forget the stay. I'm 34 years old and I have never experienced the kind of occurence that happened at this hotel. When I arrived, the first room I received was a disabled rm which would have been okay if I there was enough space in the bathroom to arrange my things, since I was staying for 3 days and water kept getting on the floor since there was no tub only a walk in shower made to be wheel chair accessible. The toilet kept getting stopped up and wouldn't flush. I was moved out of this room into a new room, so that was fine. Oh,but it gets better!!!!! The whole trip I was there I didn't receive maid service...by Choice. On Sunday, the maid came in the room without even a knock on the door, but when she saw my boyfriend laying in the front room, she quickly said maid service. We choose again not to get it, except for some towels. We left our room and decided to put a Do not disturb sign on the door, so they would't clean the room. The only person that knew we were leaving was the maid cleaning the next room. Needless to say when we came back for the Strip, our room had been broken into, and all our personal belongings where taken.....suitcase, make-up bag, videocamera, mp-3 player....EVERYTHING!!!!!! I went back home with nothing but the clothes on my back and plastic bag from the Bellagio and a M&M factory bag. This was 12 am and our flight was leaving at 6 am. I talked to the security guard and contacted the police....of course this stuff will never be seen. According to them we were the only room to get robbed. I wouldn't not stay in this place again if they paid me to. This is a timeshare...I guess share means share with everyone. If you decide to stay at this resort. PLEASE don't stay on the first floor, cause this is how they got out of our room. The first floor set up is ridiculous. Anyone can jump into the patio from off the street if they wanted to, since we were facing the street. I guess it doesn't concern the general management or they don't want this type of stuff to leak since they are trying to sell people on the timeshare, cause I haven't received a call from them yet and one would think that that would be the first thing they would do after such occurences. I guess what happens in Vegas really does stay in Vegas.

Management Response

The management at the Desert Rose resort thanks your for your comments and feedback. It is unfortunate this situation happened while you were staying at our resort. Las Vegas as a whole is not unfamiliar with situations such as this. Our security department strives to safeguard the resort, our guests and their property. A full investigation is being conducted on this situation.
While it is true that several of our units on the ground floor do have patios that face the street, the patio doors in all of our units are equipped with multiple locking devices.
