“Luxor Motel”

I stayed at Luxor for 1 night. We stayed in one of the new tower rooms. We arrived very late at night- 3am. We had to wait in line for 30 minutes to check in. Not a big deal. We drank a beer while in line. When we got up to the front desk all they had was smoking rooms, ok we can deal with this too. The walk to the room was very far, but you have to walk lots in Vegas anyway. It was 4am by the time we were able to get to the room. The decor was not very nice. I wonder if they even had a designer or if they just bought some generic Egyptian plaques and stuck them on the wall. The beds and bedding are not very nice. They are adequate, but not nice. I would compare the bedding to a Quality Inn or Motel 8. The bathroom was nice. Since we arrived so late at night we asked for a late check out. They gave that to us, we were to check out at 1pm. I requested a wake up call for 12:30 pm. Starting at 9am the cleaning people were VERY loud. We had a DND on the door, but they knocked anyway. We asked them to please try to keep the noise down and we were YELLED AT "We are just doing our job!!!!" They should have just said O.K. and then continued on with the noise. It was not acceptable for them to yell at us. I guess we got them upset because they really started with the noise. Their carts hit against our door many times after that. We called the front desk about it, they said they would send someone up, but never did. To top it off we got our wake up call at 11am, NOT 12:30pm. So we decided to just get up and get the heck out of Luxor. We were only in this hotel a total of 8 hours, and they couldn't do anything right from start to finish. We weren't angry and didn't bother complaining to anyone, just wanted to leave.

“The Luxor Needs Some Remodeling”

Luxor Las Vegas

3 of 5 stars
California
Apr 21, 2008

I frequent Vegas twice a year and haven't stayed in the Luxor for a few years. My friends and I stayed two nights and the mid-week rate was about $140. I definitely wouldn't pay more than that rate for the hotel.

The casino floor is rather smaller than I previously remember. The hotel has made room for bars and other areas that now dominate the casino floor. I also didn't see a cocktail waitress for about 25 mins. The pool area is fun and it's easy to find a lounge chair. The waitresses in the pool area provide great customer service. A good pool in Vegas is always a plus!

Club LAX at Luxor has great music and is fun. Love the decor, but they made too much room for the VIP areas and not enough for those that are not VIP. When I went on a Thursday, which is still considered a "going out" night. The dance floor was basically a strip segmented off in the middle of the room, however the VIP areas were mainly empty, which is basically a waste of space.

The elevators definitely need to be remodeled. There was etched in graffiti, glasses covered with duct tape, and the plastic protective covering in the elevator was falling apart, which gave a shabby impression. Also the carpet throughout the hallway and rooms are definitely worn out.

There is a lot of "wear and tear" in the rooms. The furniture is scratched and broken, and the mattresses are definitely old and need to be upgraded, and really hard to sleep on. The bathroom is decent, and the housekeeping staff is really nice and do a good job.

The good thing about Vegas, is you shouldn't spend too much time in your rooms. However you shouldn't be paying premium rates in Vegas for rooms at the Luxor. The hotel really needs to start remodeling to keep up with the other Vegas hotels.

This will probably be my last stay there unless they remodel soon.

“Needs renovation”

Luxor Las Vegas

Stayed at the Luxor in late March. While the casino level is fine, the guest rooms are run down and a little ragged around the edges. The mattresses actually bowed in the middle and were really uncomfortable. I haven't been to Vegas in a couple of years, but I'm pretty sure I've had better rooms at the Imperial Palace and even the Westward Ho. It wasn't awful, but I wouldn't stay at the Luxor again.

“A mixed experience at the Luxor”

Luxor Las Vegas

Apr 21, 2008

I stayed in the Luxor in a Pyramid Spa Suite in April 2008, my company paid as I was attending, it worked out fairly expensive, but I was prepared to pay for the extra space that the suite afforded. The room itself was clean but in a generally shabby and aged condition, fraying carpets, the door had kick marks on it, it all seemed to be a bit down at heel. The electrical switches and sockets seemed to date back to the 70's and would spark whenever I plugged one of my UK appliances in, which seemed a bit dangerous!

I was very disappointed that, given the cost of the suite, they seemed to charge for a lot of sub-standard services that nowadays you really take for granted in much cheaper hotels. This year I have stayed in Krakow and Slovenia and in both hotels there were free bath robes, slippers, 32" plasma TV's and free wireless internet , and these hotels were a third of the price, but there was nothing like this in the Luxor. The TV entertainment system was very slow and clunky.

The pool area was adequate and the swimming pool was great with plenty of loungers available, however I wasn't impressed with the concrete covering of the swimming pool area which must become very hot in the Summer.

I found the staff to be a little bit surly although there were some really nice helpful people.

The Casino was fun and the waitresses service was great as long as you were playing at tables, the only problem being that there was a lot of noise pollution coming from the slot machines especially close to the Poker Room and Sports betting areas. It would also have been nice if there had been a bar away from the casino area where you couldn't hear the slots. The poker rooms at Manadalay Bay and MGM Grand were much better situated and were more comfortable to play in.

No complaints about the food provision, there was plenty to choose from, the quality was great and it was great value for money.

My first instinct when I got to my room was to check-out and try to go somewhere else but I stuck with it and stayed the week. I'm glad I did because I had a great week., but I probably wouldn't stay at the Luxor again unless they go through a refurb program.

“request a room higher up!”

I have stayed here before and we stayed here again due to price HOWEVER we wouldn't choose this hotel again. The new nightclub (LAX) has a new sound system (great for the nightclubers) not so good for the sleepers! We were on floor 5 of the pyramid and I didn't sleep a wink. I did go downstairs the next morning and the check in lady was EXCELLENt. Moved us up to floor 25 immediately. I guess they have that comment often. Rooms okay, hotel undergoing a refurb and the new bars are looking fabulous. It is just a bit far from the main action. We have stayed Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Wynn, MGM and Planet Hollywood before and would probably go Planet Hollywood in a heartbeat again. Good price, great shops!
Good pool area at Luxor though. Nice and casual.
