“Fun at the Luxor”

Luxor Las Vegas

5 of 5 stars
Pasadena, California
Jan 18, 2008

The Luxor is a great hotel. For all of the times I have stayed there, the visits are always good. The hotel isn't too pricey and it isn't too big. The places to eat are tasty and the layout of the hotel is very easy to get through. It's true the Tower is getting to be a bit older now, but it still offers everything you need during your stay. I erally like it there.

    • Liked — The parking garage. I know it sounds crazy, but it's easily accessed which isn't always the case in Las Vegas.
    • Disliked — The long walk to the strip itself.

well when your paying $400USD a night at new years eve you expect a lot more than a clean room! the service was so bad we had to call back numerous times to keep the room connected to the internet (which was not included in the astronomical price) as well as beg them to hurry up and bring the refidgerator to our room (which we pre booked 3 weeks earlier after learning the room didnt even have one inlcuded for the crazy price) the food at the buffet gave us all diarreoah. just trying to check in took 1 hour as you have to drag your bags all the way from the hotel parking lot over to the hotel then some sleazy little guy tried to con us into some scam to see another hotel the luxor was promoting when all we asked him was where check in was! the lady at check in had NO idea what we had paid for in our so called "priviledge package" and couldnt even find the coupons....
the smoke in this place is disgusting - you cant even avoid it walking from your room to outside the hotel and the bar service was so understaffed the guy looked like he was going to collapse! i would- NEVER recommend anyone stay here - pay the extra $100 and stay somewhere nice like the bellagio or pay $100 less and stay somewhere smaller but HEAPS nicer like the flamingo...............

“Not as good as it should have been”

My boyfriend and I went to Vegas in April 07 and had a fabulous time after the first night. The first night our plane was delayed and by the time we were able to check in we were on the ground floor, smoking room, right next to the construction of LAX. It was horrible. We asked to be moved to a non smoking room away from the drilling and hammering that started at 8am. They were very helpful and moved us to the 28th floor. Great view and all around wonderful room.

So when my boyfriend and I decided that we would like to return and get married there we figured it would be a great place for our friends and family to go. We checked in and they gave us the run around with our coupons that we received for getting their Player's Card. When we finally got the price it stated on the coupons and our two for one on the buffet we checked in. I had previously called and spoken to a manager and asked him if he would put us in a nice room because we were going to be getting married there. He said no problem and just ask upon check-in. Well we did. We got a room on the 11th floor. The view from the window was of the towers and a cement block below. The view from the hallway was the top of the IMAX theater, also cement. We called and they said we could not get anything different that day and they could see what they could do the next day. That night the toilet ran super loudly all night long. We tried to watch TV before going to bed but our remote didn't work.

The next day we woke up early, hoping to get another room and go visit my grandma in another casino on the other side of the strip to make sure she was settled. They told us we could have a Tower room "FREE UPGRADE!". Don't fall for this. The rooms are just as bad. And when we walked up there it was two double beds on the 3rd floor. We told them no and they said to call back between 1:00 and 4:00. We attempted at 4:00 only to find out that our phone in our room didn't work. We walked down to the front desk and waited and waited. They finally gave us a room with the same view but on the 26th floor. We just decided it was this or back down to the cement palace. When we went back up to our old room we noticed that our door wasn't closed. It didn't close or latch no matter how hard we tried. Good thing our rings and cash were still in there. Needless to say we were unable to visit my grandma because it was well past 6:00 by the time we got settled.

We had 35 guests staying at the Luxor and only about half of them received the rooms - King bed - that they requested and were not comped anything for not getting their request. I don't want to seem super snotty or anything, but this is Vegas. I think they make enough money to give you what you asked for.

The night of our wedding we went up only to find that the humidifier we requested and had for the past four nights was taken from our room. We had to call down to the desk and request a new one. They never told us why this was taken. When we asked how to use the humidifier the maid had no idea - either time.

We went to the buffet before we left to use our two for one coupon only to find out that the wait was going to be over an hour. We would have missed our flight. Also, Fusia was closed the entire week and we really wanted to have a romantic dinner there.

I am sure construction is much better now but while we were there they were opening their new club. Also, when LAX would open everyone was diverted around the casino.

My in-laws were trying to get to their inclinator one night only to be told that they couldn't pass because Criss Angel was performing at the entrance. They were finally able to get through after a half an hour and showing their room keys to seven different guards.

So, if I were you and you want to relax and feel comfortable in your room even if you are just sleeping, don't stay at Luxor. It was a horrible time for my husband and myself and I will always remember this when I think of my wedding.

The wedding chapel was fabulous by the way and I would recommend going to Regale in Excalibur for their shrimp. It was the highlight of our trip.

“Dont Stay at Luxor Unless you are 20 yrs old”

This hotel is way to spread out and extremely inconvienent. Hotel personnel were rude and not eager to help you with anything. The first night there my room was next to the NEW CLUB and you could hear and feel the thumping through the walls. They then proceded to give me another room 1/2 mile away in the tower. This hotel is so awful with all the walking and strolling and elevators and walkways I would definately warn anyone that is not a teenager there to party in the clubs TO STAY AWAY.

Ive been a vegas regular for 20 yrs and this is my worst experience ever....Go to the Hilton, or NY NY. Where the service is good and the hotel employees dont have attitudes.

“Actually not as bad as I was led to believe”

Luxor Las Vegas

Jan 15, 2008

Please believe me when I say, that my stay at The Luxor over Christmas was absolutely fine and comfortable.
I am well travelled and have been to many 5 star hotels all over the world, so am used to luxury.
I went to Vegas to escape Christmas at home ( and all that cooking!!) and the whole place including The Luxor hit the mood completely for my daughter and I.

On arrival my room was upgraded for free (perfect after a 10 hour flight to San Fran..connect to LV)...the lady on the desk was lovely and I didn't queue at all...probably because I arrived at 7pm when most of the direct flights had already been and gone.
So I had a clean, comfortable room in the East Tower for no extra money (maybe because I am a polite English girl!)...and a non-smoking room too.
This room was fine because when you are in Vegas...you are out all day and only spend sleeping hours in your room...We went to all the other hotels....some spectacular and luxurious, but honestly for what we wanted, The Luxor couldn't have been better.
There is a safe in the reception atrium which is free and can be accessed 24/7....plenty of places to eat...and all the staff I spoke to were fabulous and polite...this is something I was led to believe wasn't the case....tipping is probably a good incentive!

I was never hassled by time shar etouts....rarely had to queue in any of the Starbucks!....and although we were south on the strip....the rest of the strip was easy to walk to...via other hotel walk ways...

Top tip for the Hard Rock Cafe which is off strip....you don't see unless you look hard for the sign....but outside the MGM Grand there is a sign on a side street which tells you that it's the pick up place for their free bus...its black, long and rocking! TAkes you there and back...

If I go to LV again....I'd be happy to stay at the Luxor......but for another fun hotel, that doesn't cost the earth and has a great atmosphere...I'd try The New York New York....great fun.

So, please don't be put off by other miserable reviews (I read them before I went and was really worried!)...if you are booked in to the Luxor for a short trip to LV...you can't really go wrong...

Don't be scared!
