“Bathroom dated, but very clean, quiet and comfortable beds”

Rodeway Inn

4 of 5 stars
Grand Junction, Colorado
Sep 20, 2007

We were traveling from Colorado to the Oregon and Washington coasts and just needed a place to sleep - we picked this motel based on reviews here on Trip Advisor, booking our room well in advance through Rodeway's Internet reservation site.

Although our reservations did get messed up, the management was very nice. We had requested a king bed and he had none available - we had two queens instead which was perfectly fine.

The rooms are small - but if you're just traveling through Elko and need a clean, quiet place to sleep this is more than adequate considering the price. (53.99 for a Saturday night -September 2007)

The brick building is older (which we believe added to the quietness), but the carpeting looked really new as did the bedding and the beds. Comfortable beds is a priority for us in a motel room - these are not the luxury beds you find in more upscale motels, but they were great and we felt refreshed when we woke up the next morning.

The bathroom was very dated, but everything worked and was spotless. We prefer bathrooms with the vanity/sink area separate from the toilet and bathtub, this was all in the same room. There was not an exhaust fan, but a window that you could open. One concern was the window did not have a lock and is fairly large, but we felt safe regardless.

The continental breakfast was very limited - they served mini blueberry muffins (which were pretty good), bananas and juice and coffee/tea.

If we ever have the occassion to need a room (for one night - if it was longer I'd want a bigger room) in Elko we would stay here again.

“Clean and comfortable - but felt worn”

Rodeway Inn

Was driving from Wyoming to California and needed a place to stop in the middle. Normally I would use priceline and take what it gives me but I was traveling with a car full of personal belongings, so finding a safe place to park was important.

Based on the reviews here and on other sites, I got the impression this motel would feel old but be quite clean, with a safe parking lot and friendly management.

It was exactly that. The furnishings were in rough shape. My room had mismatched cabinets and tables, much of it very dented and worn, along with two chairs - one broken and one not. The room had been painted recently but otherwise had few charming or modern aspects.

That's the worst of it.

There were many positives. The room was very clean - better than many "upscale" properties I've visited in the past. In fact, I observed the housekeeper changing sheets during the cleaning process, one step many motels try to avoid as a cost-saving measure. The room also prominently featured a large television, with a wide channel selection.

The motel had three wireless access points dispersed across the property, ensuring a very fast, free Internet connection. A minimal continental breakfast was served (muffins, fruit). My requirement for safe parking was also met. The motel is L-shaped, with the parking spaces on the inside of the angle. I could see my car from the window of my room.

As other reviewers have noted, the family operating this motel is friendly and accommodating, including allowing a late night check-in when I ran late.

I booked a fair rate directly from the hotel chain's website. Overall, the property was clean and comfortable - with a reasonable price. As far as motels go, this is probably a better choice than picking any other random motel in downtown Elko and certainly better than paying two or three times as much to stay in any of the chain hotels in town.

My husband and I needed a getaway from home, and Utah.So we headed east out of salt lake city packing our bikes in the truck. We bypassed Wendover, its pretty ho hum, unless you can catch a great concert at there concert hall, so our destination was Elko, home of interesting history and cultures...which gets me to Basque restaurants...unbelievable, another review when I have time, but we made reservations at the Rodeway Inn. The reviews and value prompted us to stay here.We found a super clean room. Great location in downtown(easy walking distance to the best restaurants, and local casinos). The Innkeeper aims to pease, as is does his family.Trust me, incredible. We even stayed an extra day to explore the region.Probably the best price in town.So if you are headed through nevada on I 80.try the Rodeway Inn

“Nice place - friendly and helpful management”

We recently spent a night at the Rodeway Inn whilst driving cross country. Since we were not sure how much ground we would cover during the day, I was not keen to reserve a room with a credit card in case we did not make as far as planned. The manager at the rodeway inn said he would hold a room for us even without a credit card hold. When we finally rolled into Elko after midnight, we called him and went over to the Inn. Not only had he held a room for us, he made sure it was a ground floor room as requested, and kept the parking space outside our room vacant as well, so we would not have to unload the whole car. His wife gave us the card keys and said we could check in in the morning, since it was so late. Wow, never had a hotel be that trusting. They had no credit card, name or knew anything about us.

The room itself was very clean, and a welcome rest after a 12 hour drive.

The manager (orig from Fiji) was again very friendly in the morning when we finally checked in, and we left very refreshed after a continental breakfast.

Thanks Rodeway Inn! Would definitely recommend.
