The St. Louis Downtown Hilton on Olive Street is truly a home away from home!! I travel there on business often & they always make me feel welcome.

From the minute I walk in the door & the desk clerk calls me by name & welcomes me back, to the day I leave and they ask when I will return again I feel cared for. The day a friend died in Iraq & I could hardly speak, the clerk (Donald) had flowers brought to me and said if he or anyone could do anything for me they would.

The food is great, everyone is super nice & you too will feel like you have come home!

Beautiful old building, good downtown location, Rooms were attractive, but nothing special. The first night we looked at a brick wall out our window and the whole room was dark and rather depressing. We had requested a room with outward facing windows when we reserved it on the Hilton web site, 1 month ago.The next day we moved to a room with windows facing the street, it was much better. Still the rooms are just average, no microwave. I stayed there because of the reviews in Tripadvisor, I saw nothing to call this the #1 hotel in St. Louis.

I would highly recommend this hotel! Great customer service, clean, beautiful rooms and lobby, great location--near shopping and Gateway Arch. The bathroom was a bit small, but the beautiful marble and granite made up for it! We've stayed in many different hotels in St. Louis, and this was one of the best (along with the Westin).

We just returned from a short stay at the Hilton Downtown, and it was perfection. I love elegant hotels like the Sofitel, and boutique hotels like the Kimpton group - if you do too you'll love this little Hilton. My husband and I selected this hotel only because we were using some Hilton points and had heard the other Hilton in the downtown area (Busch Stadium Hilton) was only so-so. We were lucky to have stumbled onto this place - we plan to stay here next time we are in St. Louis - maybe even every time.

First, the lobby and lobby bar both have touches of antique elegance. Lovely marble-encased entrances, beautiful wood-trimmed bar, like you might find in an old and expensive downtown hotel in a big city. And the bartender knows just how to mix the perfect Martini.

We asked several people for recommendations for dinner, and got more than one endorsement for the hotel's restaurant, Fifth and Olive (I believe) - so we tried it - wonderful! I had the salmon (encrusted in macadamia nuts, with marinated grapefruit wedges in a white wine sauce and saffron rice) and my husband had a super beef tenderloin. Yum. Super service. Nice wine selection. I'd go back even if we weren't staying in the hotel.

And of course the room. Absolutely spotlessly clean to the point of sparkling. I'm extremely picky about bathrooms. This one was not large, but just right anyway. Granite, marble, nicely appointed - good all around. Bed just fine too. We had two doubles, small fridge, coffee maker (no microwave though to heat up the leftover salmon... :) Again, clean and very very nice.

Staff was superb!! Loved Mose and the rest. Oh and you can EASILY walk to the arch (just a couple of blocks), which is magnificent in person.

In short, I just love this hotel. I highly recommend it.
