“It's allright”

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport

2 of 5 stars
St. Louis, MO
Jan 8, 2008

This place is boring and vanilla!. I can't say it was horrible or any major problems, just no personality.

The place sort of has a "stale" feeling about it and definetly needs an updating.

The bathroom could have been cleaner. There were way too many hairs in the tub and tile area.

If it's just a quick one-night stay, this place would be fine. If it's an extended stay, I'd certainly check out other options!

“A Very Good Experience”

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport

We stayed one night (October 7, 2007). Our experience was a very good one. Reception area was pleasant and welcoming. Plenty of convenient parking.

Room was good sized; bathroom was on the small side, but still fine.

Hotel staff was extremely (and genuinely ) pleasant. The restaurant was very good for both hot and cold breakfasts. There is a McDonalds and a Midddle Eastern restaurant within walking distance.

The hotel shuttle was an added convenience from and back to the airport. Although oblivious to any excessive airplane noise, we would not have been put off by it as it is, after all, an airport hotel. Perfect for a layover.

This was our first stay at a Hilton Garden Inn and we were sufficiently pleased with it to book again in Henderson, NV.

“Standard Hilton Garden Inn; Friendly Staff”

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions for layovers in Detroit. It is conveniently located close to the airport and offers all of the standard Hilton Garden Inn ammenities. The beds are nice, the rooms are clean (although nothing special), and the room service is above-average for mid-level hotel fare.

The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I will continue to book stays with this hotel. If you are a Hilton loyalist and are staying in the DTW area, this hotel is probably your best bet.

“Ok hotel - nothing special”

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport

I stayed at this hotel one night since it was by the airport. I can not say that this hotel is extremely bad but I can't say it was great either. The staff was pleasant and friendly. They were very helpful with directions and restaurant ideas. However, the hotel is a plain box hotel. The furniture was old and worn and my room was nothing special. The bathroom needed serious updating since there was cracks in the tile and sink. I was shocked too because normally I love the quality of Hilton Garden Inns. I think the convienance to the airport is the highlight of this hotel, however I might look around at other hotels next time I have to stay near the Detroit airport.

“Is this really a Hilton?”

Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Metro Airport

2 of 5 stars
Western Ohio
Oct 14, 2007

I have never written a hotel review before but I feel compelled to warn other travelers. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I started wondering how this could be rated as a 3 star hotel. The exterior is pretty bland other than some decent landscaping. There is almost no room at the entrance to park and check in. The front doors did not close right. I noticed a lot of other small things needing maintenance or that had shoddy maintenance. The decor throughout the hotel was ugly and worn out. There was almost no staff. The lobby was very small and the desk clerk was nice guy but did not have a 3 star hotel type appearance. The breakfast buffet was totally unimpressive. In summary, this is really a 1-2 star hotel using the Hilton name to be rated as a 3 star. Lets face it, since it is at the airport, most people are not there as a destination but as a stopover. Moreover, the price was very high on that night, definitely not worth it.

Now for the worst part. I got in very late and was given a key to a room that was already occupied. When I opened the door I scared the guy who just got out of the shower. When I went to the front desk, they gave me their last room which was on the smelly smoking floor. Oh yea, they gave me a free breakfast ticket for the mistake.
