“Amazing property and suites”

Our family of nine stayed the entire week of Thanksgiving at The Cloister in the River View Suites and the Ocean House rooms. The River View suites are brand new and the most luxurious rooms on property. They have a living room, bedroom, bathroom and many closets. There is a butler provided for your suite during your stay and they will bring you beverages, snacks, solve problems, etc....The linens, bed and bath setups are over the top.One of the nicest suites I have ever stayed in. They are comfortable enough to spend a week in although they do not connect to each other. Our family got two suites that shared a hall and were next to each other so the kids felt secure. The only complaint about the rooms is the lighting. They are pretty dark and not much light in the bedrooms. The spa has been renovated and is a real treat. The services are good, the relaxation rooms are very relaxing the meditation garden is beautiful and the pools are very nice. The staff was confused on some of our bookings but did eveything possible to remedy the problems. Fong is the best massage therapist on staff. There was a common issue of staff being misinformed or things changing at the last minute across the entire resort. It was irritating many times but I think Thanksgiving week is the week that all the dress codes and hours of operation change for many of the resort areas.
The river cruise is nice to take, the Rainbow Island Family Buffet is fun to do, the Stables are absolutely top notch, the shooting range is really cahallenging and fun, they even have a kids shooting area, the beach is pretty, the pools are huge after the redo, family bingo is still popular and fun, the Beach house area and restaurant are really good. All the food was suberb and the wait staff is very friendly. Overall it is a great destination if you have a lot of money to spend on a vacation.

“An incredible Experience”

The Cloister at Sea Island

This is an amazing resort! Our room in the cloisters was beautiful, well appointed and extremely comfortable. All of the employees were wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable, when they didn't have answers they didn't hestitate to find them. The food in each of the restaurants we dined in was great and varied from casual to fine dining. Dinner at Colt & Alison was delicious and the service impeccable! The fitness center is large, very well-equipped and without a speck of dirt or dust anywhere. I enjoyed several amazing spa treatments and relaxed in the spa itself while my husband spent a few afternoons on the golf courses. The tennis center, beach & pool are all terrific. I wish I had more time to experience the amenities and activities this fabulous resort offers. This is truly a 5-star experience!

“Great family destination”

The Cloister at Sea Island

This is a great resort for families. We stayed in an Ocean House, which is away from the main hotel, but closer to the beach. The hotel provided transportation (Range Rovers, golf carts) between the main hotel, the Ocean House, and the Beach Club. This was great, since walking around the property with a 2-year old would have been a challenge (everything is a bit spread out). However, it was never clear whether a tip was in order for the transportation. We were told tipping was already included in the resort fee, but our drivers sometimes looked at us like they were expecting a tip.

The main hotel is beautiful. The weekly picnic put on by the hotel (it has a name, but I can't remember exactly what's it's called) was great - lots of good food and kids running around everywhere, good live music, great scenery. We weren't able to dine in the main dining room, which is supposed to be great, but we went to all the kid-friendly restaurants. They were okay. Room service was exceptionally BAD. I would rather go hungry....

The beach is pretty. It's very clean and VERY private. There were times when my family was the only family on the beach. The hotel provides complimentary umbrellas and lounge chairs.

The spa is gorgeous, and the services were excellent.

All in all, this is a great place - just avoid room service. We will definitely go back.

“The Best”

How anyone could complain about Sea Island, the Cloister, the Beach Club, the Lodge, or anything else on Sea Island is beyond me. We were here for my sister's wedding and it was amazing. Melissa (wedding coordinator) was a lovely person and was always on hand to help us with everything. Our family had to plan most of the wedding from a distance but Melissa made it easy and made us feel secure.
I Had not been back for four years and in that time the rennovation completely transformed the Island.
Working in a 4-diamond hotel myself I know what really good service is and boy does The Cloister have it. We actually stayed in a condo on the island with access to all of the other buildings. The gym/spa are the best I have ever experienced. It is truly a wonderful place. I read another review that said she was disappointed to she had to drive places. We really didn't drive anywhere. The island is very bike friendly and it might take you 5 minutes to bike between buildings or 10 minutes to walk....max. Not at all a disappointment. More like discovering something new every day. In fact, writing a review for an establishment like this seems ridiculous somehow. It is the best and nothing else needs to be said.

“In Love with The Cloister”

The Cloister at Sea Island

Nov 12, 2007

We booked though WhataHotel.com We got a GREAT rate. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful and awesome this hotel is. The weather was nice during the day, cold at night but perfect to sit by the fireplace with a glass of wine. The new beach club is amazing. The food (no matter where you choose to eat) is out of this world as well as the service you will receive. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. There is nothing bad I can say about the The Cloister. We are already planning our trip back. We plan on using whatahotel.com to book us again.
