I stayed here with my two young daughters, and I'd stay again, but I do have a few complaints.
On the good side:
Most of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful (one bad apple in the bunch, but he was only minor annoyance).
The room was clean.
The beds were extremely comfortable.
The hotel was one of the quietest I've ever experienced in spite of being only three miles from the airport and three blocks from a large interstate!
Free coffee, tea, and hot cocoa any time of day.
We felt secure. Interior corridors, courtyard-style outdoor area-locked doors at night, and neighborhood isn't bad.
Shuttle to the airport was prompt (and fast--almost too fast! :-) )and friendly.
Outdoor pool and play area for the kids.
Indoor spa with lots of towels for the grownups.
This place is supposed to be 100% non-smoking, and they're supposed to fine guests who break the policy $200+. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and had no problems here.
Computer in the lobby connected to the net and was handy. Lobby was well-appointed, comfortable, spacious. Free newspaper and television in lobby.
On the bad side:
The outdoor pool had tons of tiny little bugs and specks of stuff floating on the top of the water.
When we reported a guy smoking on his balcony and walking in and out of his room, the front desk didn't seem like they cared at all, and we don't think they did anything about it.
Near one of the two elevators (the one farthest from the front desk), there was a smell like natural gas or burning rubber that was horrible. If I'd had a room near that, I wouldn't have been able to stay, but our room was far away at the end of the corridor.
No free breakfast; the hotel used to have one, but did not when we were there--but my kids drank enough hot chocolate to break the hotel's bank LOL!
There isn't much in the way of restaurants and no shopping within walking distance--a Waffle House, a MacDonalds, a swinging locals' hangout that's not kid friendly, and one other place that looked too expensive for us! LOL These are all a longish walk (15 minutes?) away, and I wouldn't walk there except in broad daylight (you have to go through a sort of downtownish area and along a busy highway for part of the distance).
All in all, I would definitely stay here again. We slept well, we got to the airport (and to MARTA, the subway) fast and free. We loved the staff. Everything was clean and comfortable.
This hotel was an expensive stay on a weekday. But the manager told us that prices drop by $100 on weekends! Hotels in Atlanta fill up 100% on weekdays with business travelers. At the airport, toward the end of the day, there's always a cloud of frantic business people at the courtesy phones, all unable to find a room within 40 miles.
