My husband and I stayed here in mid- april as he had some business meetings to attend. I was just a tag along on vacation.

Overall, the hotel is nice, with a grand entrance! Check in was very slow, which is sad in my opinion, because there was only 1 couple in front of us. One thing my husband and I could not get over was that there was plenty of staff standing around behind the check-in desk, yet only one woman was checking people in. This was frustrating, but we tried to keep an open mind. After we were finally checked in, we drove all the way around to building 7 to find our room. (yes, this hotel is super big, to big in my opinion) The property is very pretty with well maintained landscaping. However, there is major construction going on right next to it, but the noise did not bother us at all.

When we got to the elevators we waited and waited and waited. We were on the 7th floor. I am being completely honest when I say these are the absolute slowest elevators I have ever ever used! ***If you stay at this hotel ask for the lowest floor possible so that you do not have to use the elevators** We had to allow 10 minutes at least for the elevator ride. Many people complained about this, not just us. You could just feel the frustraion in the air when you were riding with other people.

The rooms were nicely decorated. They could have been cleaner though. We had a 1 bedroom king/studio. We like to stay in hotels that offer a kitchenette for quick morning meals. Well unfortunatley, we had to wash all of the silverware in the drawer and the bowls in the cabinet. They were clearly dirty from the previous hotel guests. The room was pretty dusty as well. You could see my husband's hand print on the top of the coffee maker, the dust was so thick. Also, I don't think they ever moved any chairs to vacuum around them. The bed and bathroom were clean, and I guess that is the main thing!

The pools were nice, however with a hotel of this size, they needed more pools. The location of this hotel was o.k. The outlet mall right next to the hotel is nice, but there is a much better one up the road.

We visited downtown disney about 5 minute drive away. Fun for a couple of hours. Ate at the House of Blues, terribly disappointed. Even the waiter said that the food looked bad when we addressed it. Did have some good food though at other area places.

So overall, decent hotel. Need to keep rooms cleaner and have a more attentive front desk/conceriege staff. We encountered the same problems at the conceriege desk as we did the front desk. Plenty of employees, but only one person helping customers. The line was pretty long and we gave up.

**Very important if you stay at this hotel, make sure you get a room on a low floor, so you can avoid the elevator*** One more thing, be prepared that this is family hotel. Many screaming kids and the walls are thin. The family next to us, had 2 kids that screamed until about 11pm every night that we were there. Just know that there are a lot kids at this property, it is not a quiet and serene type of place.

“Great Vacation at the HGVC!”

Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive

5 of 5 stars
Toronto
May 12, 2008

Had a wonderful one week stay at the HGVC on International Drive. Booked a two bedroom suite, which is actually two rooms -- a one bedroom plus a studio. We arrived for check-in just before 4:00 pm and were advised that our room was not ready as the hotel was unexpectedly filled to capacity, and the staff were trying to get the rooms ready ASAP. Having been on the move since 3:00 am that morning (had an early flight out of Toronto) and travelling with two young boys, we waited in the lobby until the first available room was ready.

The first room we were directed to was in the building furtherest away from the main pool, on the opposite side of the small lake. The room had a view of the parking garage for the Outlet Mall next door. I called and advised that as I had booked and paid for the accomodations in full back in July, I expected to have a much nicer view than a parking garage. In less than 30 minutes, we received a call from the staff and were moved to a new room (with a much, much better view) in Building 4.

The room(s) themselves were spotless and quite spacious for the four of us. The balcony with seating for four was also a nice touch (but the mornings were a little bit cool in November.) We took advantage of the full kitchen and the fact that a Publix grocery store was just a short drive away to enjoy a number of meals in our apartment. Also, the grounds were a pleasure to stroll around and the main pool was a lot of fun.

The resort is pretty close to the major attractions (Sea World, Disney, Universal) and we personally did not experience any difficulty with the parking situation (however, we were always back before 10:00 pm each night.)

We would definately return again.....someday.

“Beautiful but Construction Noise”

Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive

5 of 5 stars
Westlake, Ohio
May 10, 2008

We had a 1 bedroom unit which was spacious and immaculate. We stayed 3 nights. All the employees were friendly and went out of their way to assist or answer any questions. The pools looked inviting, but never got to use them. We did try the dining/bar area and had an excellent meal. Drinks were a little on the pricey side. Overall it was a great stay. One bad thing was the construction right next door on the outlet mall. They started at sunrise, around 6:45 with all the earthmoving machines. Very loud. Our room looked out over the construction. Hopefully they will be done with it in a few months. Otherwise it was a great location near all the parks.

One BAD part of the stay was the timeshare pitch. We were contacted by Hilton and given a discount rate for a 2 hour timeshare pitch. The sale went on for over 3 1/2 hours and at no time did I ever indicate I was considering their pitch. And just when you thought you were through with the salesman, a second sales person takes over to try and convince you you have to have a share in the property. They when you think your finally done, a third sales person comes in and gives you a final pitch. We wasted an entire morning with this.

“Great resort but had a few problems”

Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive

4 of 5 stars
Los Angeles, CA
May 9, 2008

We stayed at the HGVC International Drive from May 3-7, 2008 for 4 nights in a one bedroom. We are HGVC members so made the reservation using our points.

This was our third trip to Orlando but second at a HGVC property. We stayed at the Sea World in 2004.

I received a call the day before and was allowed to make some requests for rooms. Reading trip advisor I was told to avoid Building 1 (noise from pool) and Buildings 6 and 7 (because of Outlet construction). I was recommended Buildings 3 or 4.

Traveling to the resort was a little difficult. We had a Garmin GPS that we brought from home and could not find the location. The Outback that people rave about also was not to be found. We tried the Premium Outlets but that took us on a wild loop. I would recommend using the Publix Market or McDonalds as the destination point.

Upon arriving at the hotel around 10pm, we were told our requests were not available. The person at check in wasn't even aware of the construction noise. We ended up choosing Building 6. BTW, the walkway to the outlet are closed due to the construction so you gotta drive. The resort map does not show this nor did the check in person tell us this.

For a studio, I can understand why there have been compaints about the construction. They started at like 6am EST with the jackhammers and the pounding. Thankfully, we had a one bedroom and there were two or three closed doors before the bedroom, but the noise was obvious.

The HGVC- International Drive had all the amenities one would expect from an HGVC (full kitchen with frig and dishwasher, washer and dryer, jacuzzi bath, great cable tv channels, and free wi fi for internet). The internet was a little slow connecting almost every day but worked when connected. The screened in patio was similar to the Sea World HGVC.

The deli shop could use some improvement. There were no magnets, no decent postcards, no HGVC logo attire.

The lack of parking after 10pm is evident. NOTE: The 3rd HGVC in Orlando opening in 2009 is suppossed to have three floors of parking below each building.

Overall, the ambience of the lake and swimming pools were impressive. Sort of makes you not want to leave the resort, but alas Disneyworld beckoned.

The only other complaint I had was the wake up call. Every morning at 8:20am there would be a wake up call. I called the 2nd day and they showed no record of any wake up call. But it happened again the next day. Because we have a 2 year old we unplugged the phones, but before we left there was another wake up call.

Quick Tips: Each building has a room with carts to carry luggage to and from the room. I believe it was located on the 1st floor. Also, the HGVC has a computer for free printing of boarding passes. Make sure to ask the lobby about the location of the computer. I would definitely stay again. Also, don't forget to get the free 5x7 picture. Appointments are only from Tuesday to Saturday.

“Hilton -- Always the Best!”

Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive

5 of 5 stars
Seattle, WA
May 6, 2008

Hilton can always be counted on to have beautiful furnishings and to provide a perfectly clean and comfortable unit. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit -- everything perfect -- well maintained and stocked. View of the lake from the screen patio and large jetted tub in the master bath. Kitchen, living and dining rooms were spacious and clean. Beds are "Heavenly" as are all beds in all Hiltons. I would definitely come back to this hotel and would stay as long as I possibly could!
