My husband and I stayed here in mid- april as he had some business meetings to attend. I was just a tag along on vacation.
Overall, the hotel is nice, with a grand entrance! Check in was very slow, which is sad in my opinion, because there was only 1 couple in front of us. One thing my husband and I could not get over was that there was plenty of staff standing around behind the check-in desk, yet only one woman was checking people in. This was frustrating, but we tried to keep an open mind. After we were finally checked in, we drove all the way around to building 7 to find our room. (yes, this hotel is super big, to big in my opinion) The property is very pretty with well maintained landscaping. However, there is major construction going on right next to it, but the noise did not bother us at all.
When we got to the elevators we waited and waited and waited. We were on the 7th floor. I am being completely honest when I say these are the absolute slowest elevators I have ever ever used! ***If you stay at this hotel ask for the lowest floor possible so that you do not have to use the elevators** We had to allow 10 minutes at least for the elevator ride. Many people complained about this, not just us. You could just feel the frustraion in the air when you were riding with other people.
The rooms were nicely decorated. They could have been cleaner though. We had a 1 bedroom king/studio. We like to stay in hotels that offer a kitchenette for quick morning meals. Well unfortunatley, we had to wash all of the silverware in the drawer and the bowls in the cabinet. They were clearly dirty from the previous hotel guests. The room was pretty dusty as well. You could see my husband's hand print on the top of the coffee maker, the dust was so thick. Also, I don't think they ever moved any chairs to vacuum around them. The bed and bathroom were clean, and I guess that is the main thing!
The pools were nice, however with a hotel of this size, they needed more pools. The location of this hotel was o.k. The outlet mall right next to the hotel is nice, but there is a much better one up the road.
We visited downtown disney about 5 minute drive away. Fun for a couple of hours. Ate at the House of Blues, terribly disappointed. Even the waiter said that the food looked bad when we addressed it. Did have some good food though at other area places.
So overall, decent hotel. Need to keep rooms cleaner and have a more attentive front desk/conceriege staff. We encountered the same problems at the conceriege desk as we did the front desk. Plenty of employees, but only one person helping customers. The line was pretty long and we gave up.
**Very important if you stay at this hotel, make sure you get a room on a low floor, so you can avoid the elevator*** One more thing, be prepared that this is family hotel. Many screaming kids and the walls are thin. The family next to us, had 2 kids that screamed until about 11pm every night that we were there. Just know that there are a lot kids at this property, it is not a quiet and serene type of place.
