“Great hotel. Family friendly. Don't fear the "screaming kids"”

Sagamore Miami Beach

Our stay overlapped that of the previous reviewer who was annoyed by the "screaming kids" at the pool. We had one of the "screaming kids". Maybe she is very sensitive because it was maybe 6 kids max just splashing around having a good time. The hotel advertises itself as family friendly, even to the point of having a "Kids VIP" pass. It's not like any kids are hanging out at Social Miami at midnight. Most people there seemed to enjoy the mix of families, couples and singles.

It would take maybe 5 min of research to find a hotel without kids if that is what you want.

The pool is small but I have no earthly idea what anyone would do with a larger pool. Swim laps??? Most hiptards just lounge anyway. And the beach is right next to the pool.

The lobby and Social Miami are gorgeous. The hallway floors are really old and musty. Surprised they haven't put some money towards that. Rooms are nice but not what you expect after seeing the lobby and Social Miami.

Staff is generally friendly.

It's a very good spot that could be a great spot.

“Loved the Sagamore but a had few issues”

Sagamore Miami Beach

I came back from 8 nights at the Sagmore this Thursday the 12th. On first appearances the hotel looks great, it has a boutique feel and the lobby is beautiful, very white and minimal with lots of art pieces. Fernando greeted us at reception and we were upgraded from our original city view room to a partial ocean view suite on the Penthouse floor (I think they do this quite often). Our room was so spacious, around 500 sq feet with a separate bedroom and living area. There is a large plasma tv and large sofa in the main room, then a comfy double bed and spacious en suite bathroom. One of the main problems at this hotel is the pool, it is far smaller than the pictures on the website make you believe, and it is also constantly full of screaming children (as the rates at this hotel are cheaper than the other on Collins Avenue I assume more families want to stay here). I am not saying I have a problem with family holidays, it is just that if you come to Miami either to chill out or enjoy the party scene screaming kids aren't top of your list. Friday nights at the Sagamore are really good as the hotel bar 'The Social' gets really busy and you can have drinks etc. by the pool. Some of the barstaff are a little crappy though. The pool area of the hotel opens out onto the beach which is great for easy beach access. In terms of quietness the rooms are extra soundproofed which is fantastic, although the a/c is a little noisy. On checking out the man at front desk asked me and my boyfriend if 'we wanted to look at the final bill' which is a little odd-of course we did!! It turned out we had been charged for lots of items from the mini bar which we did not have so BE CAREFUL. This really annoyed me. Another major problem-THE LIFT!!!! If you get upgraded there is one lift which goes to the Penthouse floor (as well as serving all the other floors). In the 8 days we were there the lift was not working twice and at all other times is used as a goods lift so it takes hours, not very good at all. Overall this hotel is great value and the staff (especially Fernando and Lucas) were so friendly. The downsides were the cramped pool and the errors on the final bill. If I came again I would try the Delano or the Setai. If anyone wants restaurant or bar recommendations please e-mail me.

“Super glam AND friendly”

Sagamore Miami Beach

What a fantastic place. It was ultra chic, but without being too poncy. But what really made the hotel was the staff. They were so friendly and efficient and I think that's what made all the difference.
They couldn't do enough for you and were always friendly and professional.
From great pool-side service, to a fabulously entertaining maitre d' in the restaurant. Talking of which, the food at The Social was amazing - it's not cheap, but coming from London we felt we got good value for a premium meal.

As we were there during 'Spring Break' there were quite a few students on their vacation and it could get noisy round by the pool, but it all added to the vibe and people spotting possibilities. And there was a mix of people including families with small children to couples and groups of friends.

If I had to criticise I would say the rooms have become a bit tired. Lots of money has been spent on the lobby, bar, restuarant etc, so I reckon the rooms could do with a spruce. We stayed in an ovean room view at first, which was very spacious and nice, but had no balcony (which seems to be quite normal in South BEach), but we then upgraded to a penthouse, which had some amazing private outdoor space.

“Sagamore was great!”

Sagamore Miami Beach

Stayed at the Sagamore for a long weekend through St. Patty's Day and thoroughly enjoyed. Booked a room direct at a great price, no view(although not that bad looked out onto Ocean Drive), deluxe suite with 2 doubles and a pull out that adequately accomodated 4 girls. Bathroom was spacious with separate area with sink and mirror and full mirror in living area that allowed all girls to get ready at once. Kitchenette with micro and fridge was nice for coffee and breakfasts in the morning and snacks and cocktails while getting dressed in the evening. Housekeeping left a little to be desired but not terrible. Requested an early check in and they had our room ready by noon, requested late check out and for 1/2 the room rate we were allowed to stay in room until 4pm. Pool was nice although had to be out there by 9am to reserve a chair if you wanted poolside, otherwise was over in the sand area which I did not like as much and that also filled up quickly. Poolside drink and food service was excellent. Piped in music was great and pool atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, more intimate than say the Loew's which while much more lively feels more like a Marriott than a boutique South Beach Hotel. Evenings at the pool bar were very nice, Derek was especially accomodating with drink concoctions and Friday night it is THE place to be with a wonderful party that spills out form their Social Miami restaurant to the pool area with multiple bars and 3 dj's along the way, ABSOLUTELY the place to see and be seen :) Location was great, right on the ocean with a promenade behind that was perfect for jogging and power walks. No fitness center but for a $20 fee you can use the David Burton gym a few doors down at the Delano. The Spa is poolside in a bungalow on the second floor. No great facilities but Gaston gives a FABULOUS massage that we all highly recommend. Also saw guests getting poolside manicures and pedicures while sipping champagne. A short walk to all the hot spots, Shore Club, Sky Bar etc. short cab ride to most of the hot clubs. All in all a great take that I highly recommend!

“Great Stay, Great Location, Great Room, BETTER than a 3 star hotel”

Sagamore Miami Beach

5 of 5 stars
Twin Cities, MN

Our stay at the Sagamore was great. We originally booked a non-view room, but they upgraded us to a partial ocean view. Since we didn't have a balcony (most of the hotels around South Beach don't - the major exception is the Lowes), the room really wasn't arranged to embrace our 'view,' because our view was pretty limited. As a result, the beds (one king, one fold out - fold out was suprisingly comfortable by the way) didn't really face the views. That was really fine, because we really didn't spend much time in the room. There are other rooms at the sagamore with full ocean views, and views of the Sagamore garden.

The lobby of this hotel was pretty great. Most of the hotel is white, but since this is the 'art hotel,' the lobby features some pretty eclectic art. For example, in front of the front desk is a metal and glass tile swing with lights installed under the seat. And it isn't just for show, it's an actual swing you can sit on, given that you swing "gently."

The pool was small, but very well appointed with nice cabanas, large leaf shaped lounges, and the usual lounges on imported sand. And at night, driving music filled the pool area along with blue and purple accent lights and televisions. Behind the pool is a very nice garden with large umbrellas and sofa couches. Also, you can basically get free wireless internet access wherever you go in the hotel (we surfed the net by the pool and in the garden).

Additionally, all the rooms come with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, and freezer, which really make it easy if you want to bring food to the room

Whenever we had a problem, it was solved quickly and efficiently. The staff usually greeted us. It was a very nice stay. Since it is cheaper than the Ritz, Delano, Shore Club, and Setai and is nicer than the Lowes, we would definitely come back to the Sagamore.
