As a family we like to stay at Marriott's Residence Inn, but since there was not one we opted for the Fairfield. It is very new and clean. The staff were friendly, and it's centrally located for the area. I thought the price of $150 for a king suite (nice space) a bit high since this is Marriott's budget brand. The only negative was no movie pay per view service, which may not matter to some but we are used to having that option.

A brand new property in Melbourne Florida. We actually booked it before it opened and we were a bit concerned of the unknown.

We walked into the lobby of the hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The staff greeted us with a smile and it opened out to a nice lounge area where you can relax on couches next to a fireplace. This apparently, is Marriott's new design for their Courtyard and Fairfield Inn lobbies.

The room was very pleasant. Plush bedding (what they are known for) and a workspace which was unexpected for a Fairfield Inn. They also had 2 LCD HD TVs in the room and a small stereo where you can enjoy high fidelity music. We converted the couch to a bed for our young daughter. She enjoyed having a bed and TV to herself.

There is also a nice exercise room (with brand new equipment).

The breakfast area is pleasant and we were helped by a very nice attendant. Good variety including: make your own waffle, premade breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, cereal, muffins. I do not recall whether they have bagels.

Only 2 downsides: There is a dome light located near the bathroom. With the light switch turned off, the light flickered every few seconds. The manager acknowledged this and said that the contractor mismatched the light bulbs according to the requirement to have lighted wall switches. According to him, they will be replaced in a matter of days and this problem may already have been addressed.

The second downside is that our room was near the 4th floor elevator. In the middle of the night, you can hear the elevator announcing itself.

All in all, I liked the fact that the hotel was generally well insulated and quiet. It is also located near the I-95 which makes it suitable for going to different venues. In our case, we used the hotel as a base for going to Kennedy Space Center, Sea World and Dodger Spring Training at Vero Beach. The Fairfield Inn was also a very good value for the price and we would definitely stay there again.
