“Never Again!”

My husband and I go to Key West annually for the Boat races in Nov. and were unable to stay at our usual place, and therefore sought out the Albury Court (a Key West Historic Inn) as a new option. WRONG choice...While we appreciated the recent remodel, there were numerous issues that any reputable establishment would be ashamed of.
Our first issue came when the room we were assigned did NOT have internet (as advertised). We were moved to a much smaller room in order to accodate the neccessity. I also reported to the front desk (numerous times during our stay) the lack of toiletries, spa towels, coffee/condiments etc. If I did not ask, they were not provided.
The greater issue though was the presence of bugs in our room. Not only cockroaches ( which I provide in a Gatorade bottle to the front desk), but also what I categorized as ‘bed bugs’. The on site manager examined our room and stated these were ‘ghost ants’, not bed bugs. While I am less concerned regarding the type of bug, I showed her the bites that both my husband and I received in our 6 days at this hotel. All she had to say was, yes they do bite…………
This is a poor way to run a hotel, even a boutique one. At an asking price of $179 per nite, they need to improve service and get an exterminator, if they intent to maintain clients. Never agin for us.

“We think we were one of their first guests!”

Albury Court

Apr 10, 2008

We ended up at AC after hating our one night stay at the Chelsea House. The staff at AC was friendly and welcoming. They really seemed to be happy working at AC. They stored our bags for us and put our perishables in their fridge while we waited for our room to be ready.

We loved the room. It was a nice size, with a very comfy king sized bed. The bathroom was nice and roomy too, with nice fixtures. The flat screen TV and wall AC kept us happy and comfortable while we were in the room. Loved the pool towels provided by the hotel, in which clean ones were displayed on our freshly made bed every day.

The pool was nice and the courtyard it was located in was shadey during breakfast and wonderfully sunny the rest of the day. We spent a lot of time relaxing in that pool and most of the time we had it to ourselves. The pool fountain is a nice touch.

The hotel had recently been opened (for a week or two if I recall correctly). They were still finishing some of the other rooms in the adjoining building. Even with the construction going on, we weren't inconvenienced.

The complimentary continental breakfast was nice. The location was perfect and we walked everywhere...to the pier, to Duval, Schooner Wharf...everywhere. We rented bikes, which the hotel ordered for us, and we went down the Smather's beach (don't bother).

We also rented a scooter and went to the Southernmost point, Dog Beach, and Salute's restaurant on the water.

The only downfall is that our room overlooked the main road. The morning traffic and a lot of large trucks drove through each morning, which made sleeping-in while on vacation nearly impossible - and I am not a light sleeper.

AC honored our rate from the Chelsea House (since they were owned by the same investor), so the value was nice!

If we ever go back to KW, we would consider staying at AC again.

“Best bargin in Key West”

Great location at a great price! 3 blocks to the Harbor Walk and 6 blocks to Duval Street. Nice little pool, continental breakfast, fridge in room, all you need. This property is owned by Historic Key West Properties and they also own the Budget Inn Key West across the street. The Budget is where we stayed in January 2006 and we booked there again but when we arrived they upgrades us to the Albury Court. I would have been happy at either place but our room at the Albury Court was actually a 2 room suite so that was great. The staff was very freindly and hospitible. Highly recommend it and we will be back!

“nice stay”

My husband and I stayed at Albury Court in Key West in March. Very clean and quaint. Small pool in the courtyard which was great for 85 degree weather. We walked everywhere. The harbor was beautiful with lots of restaurants. We manged to spend some time at Sloppy Joes, great entertainment, and probably the highlight of our stay was "Danger Charters", a sailboat trip with snorkeling and kayaking and a great sunset on our way back. You won't be sorry if you book a room here.

“Nice Place, Clean, Decent Price for Off-Season but Peak Season Too Expensive”

Good points in no particular order:
* Clean room, excellent housekeeping.
* Nice linens and room furnishings for the money.
* Nicely close to the Key West fun stuff and nightlife. You can walk everywhere.
* Efficient front desk personnel without the fake, overly friendly attitudes of upper-class motels. Fine by me!

Sort-of-bad points (depending on your point of view)
* Buffet breakfast was minimal but I appreciated it.
* Parking can be tight (parallel parking on street). But I found a close parking spot and left my car there for three days while I walked and biked everywhere. I loved it!
* Room was very small. If you stay there with a friend, you better like one another a lot.

I would stay there again during off-season (I paid $120). I would not stay there peak season, as I believe they tack-on another $100. It's not worth it for the size of the room.
